LTEs on Tobacco Party hypocrisy

Written by: Jason Hsu on May 18, 2006 12:36 AM EDT

I've been waiting for the Democratic Party to wake up and realize that the Republican Party is the Tobacco Party. The biggest symbol of Republican hypocrisy is their acceptance of campaign contributions from the tobacco industry. As you know, tobacco is a leading cause of premature deaths, and the number of tobacco-related deaths dwarfs the number of deaths from guns, stabbings, car collisions, drownings, falls, illegal drugs, plane crashes, etc. Tobacco is also known to be more addictive than heroin. TOBACCO COMPANIES OPPOSE FAMILY VALUES. While parents teach their children to avoid tobacco at all cost, tobacco companies pull out all stops to seduce kids into taking their first puff, chew, or dip.

I learned at last month's DFA training that LTEs are important and that it's MY JOB to raise the issue of Tobacco Party hypocrisy.

So I've sent out LTEs on the issue holding various politicians accountable. My targets have included Jim Nussle and Orrin Hatch (remember that tobacco is AGAINST the Mormon religion). Several have been published. Here are the links:
