General Info and Calendar 2007

What to expect:

Most meetings are held at the Hall of Records in Newark, 5th Floor. If you ever served Jury Duty in Essex it's basically the same place, but in the "front half" of the building where the courts are.

You can go to the site for the agenda and print a copy or pick up a copy at the court ( last minute changes will be on those sheets ). See Link  http://www.essexcountyofnj.com/freeholders/site/agendas.php

When you get there typically note how the freeholders voted on each agenda item, and record some of the discussion (if any) on resolutions up for a vote. It's good if they see someone taking notes, however there is alot that is not relevant to our purpose. We generally will take the notes to the next meeting and bring up anything that may seem important.

You may want to introduce yourself to one or more Freeholders during the milling around time before the meeting starts. Our DFA "friends" are Carol Clark and Ralph Caputo, and if you tell them you are from Essex County DFA, and are from the same group as some of the same people who did the voting machine task force, that will be enough for them.

By now, they know many of the DFA members, it's just important they know someone's watching, taking notes, and sharing them with a larger group -- all in the perfectly innocent interest of open government and informed citizens.

a. Adopt and amend an Administrative Code.
b. Advise and consent to appointments.
c. Pass ordinances and resolutions.

g. Approve the annual operating and capital budgets.
