Linked to groups: Lower Merion Grassroots, Mercer County Democracy for America, Ocean County DFA/PDA, Progressive Democracy South Jersey, DFA New Jersey
Made in America Rally and Lobby Day
July 30th - Washington D.C.
--------------------§§§§§------------------
July 30th is Medicare's 44th Birthday.
We want you to help us celebrate that event in Washington in a way that will make Congress understand that the new legislation to reform health care that is coming out of Congress isn't acceptable. It leaves private insurance in the mix, won't insure millions of the uninsured, won't give us our choice of doctors, won't control costs, won't provide relief to fiscally strapped state and local governments, and won't end discrimination based on age and income. We want Medicare Expanded and Improved to cover everyone.

Medicare has successfully provided care to seniors and people with disabilities for almost half a century. Its single payer structure with only 3% administrative costs stands in sharp contrast to the 20% and higher wasted by the private insurance companies on administration and profits. As Washington struggles to fund health care reform, an expanded and improved Medicare shows the way to do it!
Hope to see you on the bus!

- At our last monthly meeting the decision was to have a tribute at a later date after we have collected as many as possible stories about Bill, such as his work within the State on the Progressive movement, elections, funny stories, anything that would add to describing the life of this special individual and the ways he has touched so many lives.
- Also we are looking for pictures of Bill to display that day. Once we have gathered the stories and pics we will pick a date and venue for everyone to attend.
- Please forward stories and pics to ProgressiveDemocracySoJersey@gmail.com and place in Subject line "Tribute to Bill Brown. "
-
- We are looking for a donation of $100 to give to the Statewide Coalition ,[ One Plan, One Nation] , of which we have already received $50, but still need an additional $50 to meet our obligation. Please let us know if you are able to contribute to this.
- Also need volunteers to help lobby Lou Greenwald and Pam Lampitt for their support of the bill. If you are interested in helping to set up this meeting. please contact George Hunt geohunt1@aol.com or Tim O'Neill aloysius@snip.net .
- A strategy and prep session for a possible Adler meeting is scheduled on Tuesday, 2/17 for 7 PM in the Cherry Hill library on Kings Highway. An attempt is being made to arrange a meeting with John Adler for Feb.20. If you want to be part of the delegation, hold Feb.20 open.

2008 Winner of the Oscar for best documentary feature:
TAXI TO THE DARK SIDE is a gripping investigation into the reckless abuse of power by the Bush Administration.
A documentary murder mystery that examines the death of an Afghan taxi driver at Bagram Air Base, the film exposes a worldwide policy of detention and interrogation that condones torture and the abrogation of human rights. This disturbing and often brutal film is the most incisive examination to date of the Bush Administration’s willingness, in its prosecution of the “war on terror,” to undermine the essence of the rule of law. The film asks and answers a key question: what happens when a few men use the wartime powers of the executive to undermine the very principles on which the United States was founded? A Jigsaw Production.
This Movie is Rated "R" due to disturbing images and content involving torture and graphic nudity.

As Tomas's journey unfolds, the film cuts back and forth to Congressional proceedings in Washington, D.C. Footage includes passionate speeches by Senator Robert Byrd as well as a running tally of how each U.S. Senate member voted on the resolution to authorize President George W. Bush to war in Iraq.

URGENT Appeal for Your Help to Publish Ads for Impeachment in the Wash. Post !!!
Linked to groups: Progressive Democracy South Jersey, Lower Bucks for Democracy, Ocean County DFA/PDA, Jersey Shore DFA, Northeast Philadelphia for Democracy
This comes to you on behalf of a broad national coalition of people and impeach groups. We need your help!!!! We aim to publish 5 large ads in the Washington Post on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday — September 8, 10, 11, 12 — and a half-page ad on Sunday, September 14th. Attached below are 2 large ads for weekday publication, and one half-page ad for Sunday publication. This is part of a national campaign we're calling "COUNTDOWN TO IMPEACHMENT!" Nobody needs to tell you the magnitude of the threat Bush-Cheney present. Do not make the mistake of thinking that George W. Bush is a lame duck. He is going full speed ahead with his agenda, unhampered by anything so trivial as worrying about reelection. The following is a list of what Bush has done in the past couple of weeks!
Gutted environmental protection by taking EPA scientists out of the loop. Pushed for offshore oil drilling Made it easier for the FBI to investigate without a warrant. Proposed making oral contraceptives harder to obtain. (& classifying them as abortion!) Gotten obviously drunk at the China Olympics, embarrassing the US and insulting the Chinese. Started a proxy war with Russia via the US client nation of Georgia Signed an agreement to place missile defense in Poland, evoking a Russian threat against Poland. Canceled joint military exercises with Russia, essentially restarting the Cold War with the second nuclear superpower. Please Read This Article and know, now is not the time to quit !!!! http://impeachforpeace.org/impeach_bush_blog/?p=5632 We believe our ads will help bring enough pressure to move the House Judiciary Committee to begin impeachment proceeding in earnest — before they attack Iran — and with the help of thousands of citizens phoning the committee members, we can get movement by September 26th. The weekday ads will measure 12" wide x 18" high, and the Sunday ad will measure 12" wide x 10.5" high. We ask you for two actions. The first is to donate as much as you can to help our ads publish. The second is to get your help in spreading the word to help us get the money, both to your circle of friends and to every web site you can. If you can hook us up with any media, we'll get someone nearby to contact them. If you operate a web site or an organization we ask you to endorse our effort and to tell everyone on your email list about our campaign. If you can't endorse because of a policy against that level of action, then at least forward this to your members so they can help us. Following is our donation graphic. You can copy and paste it into an email, or you can just forward this along to others: Please Forward Widely and Sorry for any Duplicates

We can protect the future from psychotic despots and two-bit dictators.
We can uphold our Constitution, restore justice and reclaim our democracy.
For the sake of our commonwealth we must hold Bush-Cheney to account and impeach, remove them from power and prosecute them.
The agony's gone on long enough, and you can help to put an end to it.
Please give whatever you can afford, and let's put the nightmare to an end and take back our country.
Let us hear from you today.
