Barry Sacharow is a huge fan of Bicycle Racing and often compares a Bicycle Stage Race to an election. As you watch the queen of Stage Races, the 23 day, 2500 mile Tour de France, consider the following; in a bike race, the advantage remains with the riders who have tucked in behind the leader's slipstream, awaiting their opportunity to sprint to victory, while retaining their element of surprise. Further, in both a bicycle race and an election, there are a multitude skills and contests, and remaining competitive in every one of these is a central component of any overall victory. However, at the finish, all of those smaller contests are barely remembered, and it is the total elapsed time for a bike race and the total votes cast in an election that equates to victory.

Team Elect Barry Sacharow offers proud congratulations to American Floyd Landis, the Phonak team leader, only the fifth American to lead this race,considered by some to be the world's greatest sporting event. Also congratulations to Bastille Day stage winner Yaroslav Popovych, now the Discovery Channel team's highest placed rider. Popovych, last year's Best Young Rider in the Tour de France is Ukrainian, as were both Barry's Great-Grandfather (Kiev) and Sherrie's Grandmother (Olesk). The orange in the campaigns colors of Purple and Orange honors Ukraine's recent, non-violent, "Orange Revolution" and the hope for future sucesses, as well as trade and political links between Florida, the USA and Ukraine.

Victory for Barry Sacharow in DFALINK Poll & 7/10 update

BARRY SACHAROW WINS in DFALINK POLL & July 10 ELECT BARRY SACHAROW campaign update

Thanks to all who voted and participated in the DFA State Legislative Poll process this past week. Barry Sacharow, District 99, finished up with 28.1% of the total vote, winning this statewide Florida House Poll! Next highest vote getter was fellow Broward County Democratic House Candidate Amy Rose, who received 26.7% of the vote. Plus there was an additional 13.4% who voted for "All of the Above," bringing both Amy and Barry's support totals above 40%.

This was a clear message from the statewide electorate that candidates who put forth a wide-ranging, progressive agenda and are not afraid to stand up and be counted, will be rewarded with votes and support. For Barry Sacharow's campaign it is not only a measure of support of the many issues on which he is running, it is also a measure of support for Barry being the only full time, fully committed, candidate for the Florida House of Representatives, District 99.

The poll ran neck and neck with the lead jockeying between Amy Rose and Barry Sacharow until after 11:30 PM on Saturday Night, July 8th, with the poll ending at midnight. In the end, the votes that made the difference came from two areas, extended family from throughout Florida along with political allies and supporters from the Progressive Caucus/PDA.

Many of the PDA folks participated following a surprise email blast, Saturday Night, from the PDA State Vice-Chair, Luis Cuevas from Gainesville and due to the increasing synergy between PDA and DFA. Next week, at Democracy Fest in San Diego that bond is expected to strengthen with increasing interaction between the two groups. Barry Sacharow hopes that the system used in this poll, http://dfalink.com is an increasing part of that coordination

It is also Barry Sacharow's hope that the result of this Poll is that both Amy Rose and he are selected for the national DFA "A-List" which would mean not only increased exposure, but increased dollars through donations as well. Amy Rose has earned this recognition because of her years of hard work and grassroots efforts. Barry Sacharow looks forward to sharing that honor with Amy Rose as well as our friend, Christian Chiari, the only true Broward County, grassroots, progressive in the current poll:

Victory for Barry Sacharow in DFALINK Poll & 7/10 update

BARRY SACHAROW WINS in DFALINK POLL & July 10 campaign update

Thanks to all who voted and participated in the DFA State Legislative Poll process this past week. Barry Sacharow, District 99, finished up with 28.1% of the total vote, winning this statewide Florida House Poll! Next highest vote getter was fellow Broward County Democratic House Candidate Amy Rose, who received 26.7% of the vote. Plus there was an additional 13.4% who voted for "All of the Above," bringing both Amy and Barry's support totals above 40%.

This was a clear message from the statewide electorate that candidates who put forth a wide-ranging, progressive agenda and are not afraid to stand up and be counted, will be rewarded with votes and support. For Barry Sacharow's campaign it is not only a measure of support of the many issues on which he is running, it is also a measure of support for Barry being the only full time, fully committed, candidate for the Florida House of Representatives, District 99.

The poll ran neck and neck with the lead jockeying between Amy Rose and Barry Sacharow until after 11:30 PM on Saturday Night, July 8th, with the poll ending at midnight. In the end, the votes that made the difference came from two areas, extended family from throughout Florida along with political allies and supporters from the Progressive Caucus/PDA.

Many of the PDA folks participated following a surprise email blast, Saturday Night, from the PDA State Vice-Chair, Luis Cuevas from Gainesville and due to the increasing synergy between PDA and DFA. Next week, at Democracy Fest in San Diego that bond is expected to strengthen with increasing interaction between the two groups. It is also Barry Sacharow's hope that the result of this Poll is that both Amy Rose and he are selected for the national DFA "A-List" which would mean not only increased exposure, but increased dollars through donations as well. Amy Rose has earned this recognition because of her years of hard work and grassroots efforts. Barry Sacharow looks forward to sharing that honor with Amy Rose as well as our friend, Christian Chiari, the only true Broward County, grassroots, progressive in the current poll:

BARRY SACHAROW WINS!

A Peace Activists' 4th of July Veterans Repost

It is the VETERAN , not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN , not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN , not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN , not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN , not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN , not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the VETERAN ,
who salutes the Flag,


It is the veteran ,
who serves under the Flag,

I don't know if you saw this in the news but it really impressed me. Funny, our US Senate/House took 2 days off as they couldn't work because of the expected storm.

On the ABC evening news, it was reported tonight that, because of the dangers from Hurricane Isabelle approaching Washington DC, the military members assigned the duty of guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier were given permission to suspend the assignment.

They respectfully declined the offer, "No way, Sir!"

Soaked to the skin, marching in the pelting rain of a tropical storm, they said that guarding the Tomb was not just an assignment; it was the highest honor that can be afforded to a service person.

The tomb has been patrolled continuously, 24/7, since 1930.

I don't usually suggest that many emails be forwarded, but I'd be EXTREMELY proud if this one reached as many as possible. We can be very proud of our young men and women in the service no matter where they serve.
