Barry Sacharow is a huge fan of Bicycle Racing and often compares a Bicycle Stage Race to an election. As you watch the queen of Stage Races, the 23 day, 2500 mile Tour de France, consider the following; in a bike race, the advantage remains with the riders who have tucked in behind the leader's slipstream, awaiting their opportunity to sprint to victory, while retaining their element of surprise. Further, in both a bicycle race and an election, there are a multitude skills and contests, and remaining competitive in every one of these is a central component of any overall victory. However, at the finish, all of those smaller contests are barely remembered, and it is the total elapsed time for a bike race and the total votes cast in an election that equates to victory.

Team Elect Barry Sacharow offers proud congratulations to American Floyd Landis, the Phonak team leader, only the fifth American to lead this race,considered by some to be the world's greatest sporting event. Also congratulations to Bastille Day stage winner Yaroslav Popovych, now the Discovery Channel team's highest placed rider. Popovych, last year's Best Young Rider in the Tour de France is Ukrainian, as were both Barry's Great-Grandfather (Kiev) and Sherrie's Grandmother (Olesk). The orange in the campaigns colors of Purple and Orange honors Ukraine's recent, non-violent, "Orange Revolution" and the hope for future sucesses, as well as trade and political links between Florida, the USA and Ukraine.

South Florida Rock the Vote 2006 will take place on Friday, July 21st, 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM at the Hollywood Beach Bandshell at Johnson Street and the Hollywood Broadwalk. Rock the Vote is a non-partisan effort that uses Music, Comedy and Cultural Events to persuade young people to vote and become involved in the political process.
