Progressive Wave: Come blog with us!

Written by: Ryan Thibodaux on Nov 17, 2006 5:37 PM EST

Hi everyone,

As many of you may have seen from PsiFighter37's (Asuka) diaries at Kos, Swing State Project, MyDD, and others, we've started a blog network project called Progressive Wave.

To see what we've built so far, head over to http://www.progressivewave.net.

It all started with an idea Asuka had a few days before the election:

[Progressive Wave] would be a website for all the newly-elected Democrats in this election. [...] The idea behind such a website would be to publicize the work of all the new representatives, whether it be what they do in Washington or what they do within the district. In a sense, it would be a form of citizen journalism - reporting on what our representatives are doing to advance the Democratic agenda and how it will help their constituents. Ideally, I would like a local resident (preferably in-district) to be the designated blogger for the district.

Turns out that the day before he posted that diary, I was sitting in the library at school thinking about almost the exact same idea and jotting down some notes. Luckily, I happened to see PsiFighter37's diary soon after he posted it, and we've since joined forces in the effort.

In the 10 days since the election, I've been working furiously to build an infrastructure of (currently) 49 blogs, plus a main "hub" page, while Asuka has been busy recruiting bloggers from across the country to join our team. We've made great progress, but there are many openings left to fill.

Want to join us? We plan to have multiple bloggers for each blog so that fresh content flows and a wide variety of voices can be heard. This, in my humble opinion, is a fantastic opportunity for all of us (you included) to establish a valuable role in the growth and influence in the netroots.

Many of you have written fantastic local blogs leading up to the election, and this is a chance to keep supporting your local candidates through 2008 and beyond. Not only that, but you'll have an immediate support structure of potentially hundreds of other Progressive Wave bloggers reading your work and helping spread the word about the project.

We already have a couple dozen writers on board, but every blog is still open for more contributors (some still have no takers). If you'd like to join us, please email us at progresswave@gmail.com with any questions or with a request to join a blog or blogs' team.

Thank you for your interest in our project and for all of your hand work that made November 7th happen and Progressive Wave possible.

We hope to hear from you soon.
