Voter Registration & Absentee Ballot Information for All 50 States

Dear Fellow DFA Members:

If this has already been shared or made available, I appologize, but it is too important to not share it again.

For one central place to find out procedures, forms, and deadlines for voter registration and absentee voting for all 50 states, go to http://www.declareyourself.com  It takes you to the various state department of state voting/election offices.  The Department of the Census has a nifty county finder, which you will need to send your forms to the right county voter/election/clerk location.  The URl is http://quickfacts.census.gov/cgi-bin/qfd/lookup . Just type  in your Zip Code and viola, your county pops up.

New voters will most likely vote the way we want them, according to studies at Yale.  We have 30 days to register new voters in most states, especially battleground states.  If we register 6,000 voters a day and bring them to the polls in the key battlground states, we can win for Obama.

Don't forget the Neighborhood Volunteer Program of Democrats.org, where individuals can canvass their own neighborhood precinct or ward from the PC and phone.

All these little steps will help us win.

Best regards,

Running as a Delegate to the Convention

Written by: Paul Roden on Oct 18, 2006 6:38 AM EDT

Linked to groups: WeDemocrats

Dear We Democrats:

I am planning to run as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention. I plan is to run as a delegate committed to Russ Feingold, if he runs. If not I am running as a non-committed
delegate. I would appreciate your ideas on how to do this.

I am tired of the DLC ruling things. I want to make sure that the
Democrats stands for things that are important to me. And unless logic and data convince me other wise, these things should be written in stone, iron clad and rock solid. No more DINO's! I am tired of Democrats running on a Republican platform or carrying out or voting with the Republican's. I want to the public to know where Democrats stand on the issues and not try to parse words to stay in the "middle". Sure politics and government is the art of compromise. We need someone like Benjamin Franklin to bring us together in the Congress. But the
present course is wrong for both Democrats and Republicans.

It is time to get money out of politics. It is time to balance the budget. It is time to end the sick philosophy that taxes and government are evil. What we want is smart government, smart taxes and smart policies. Not small government, small taxes and sick policies. We want fairness and common sense, not catering to the highest campaign contributer. We want a sane environmental policy and energy policy that works on ending global warming. We want an eneryg policy that ends are dependency on foreign oil. We want support for public education, science research and retraining of unemployed citizens. We want a policy that secures are borders without building endless fences that can be avoided at the borders.
We want to use diplomacy and the UN to forge a consensus to
aid develoipment and avoid war. We want our troops out of Iraq and a policy of culural respect and understanding. Tolerance is one ot the principles this nation was founded on. Militerism is not the way to defeat terrorists alone. We need to appoligize to the world for our invasion of Iraq and ask for help in stabilizing the country and get out. That is what I want to put into the platform. If I don't win my election or if at the convention, I don't succeed, at least I have tried to engage in the dialog that we need. I am tired of the "Vince Lombardi Syndrome" of politics. We need to stand up to the "swiftboating" and get better at communicating our ideas to the electorate.
