PA DEMOCRATIC PARTY ANNOUNCES DELEGATE SELECTION TRAININGS IN ANTICIPATION OF 2008 DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION

###
According to the new DNC Rules, there has to be a training in every Congressional District on how to run as a Delegate to the DNC Convention in Denver, CO in August of 2008.
I attended the training in Sept. 7th in Camphill at the PA State Committee Meeting.
This is what I learned on Friday, Sept. 7th at the PA Democratic Party Training before the state Democratic Committee Meeting. Step 1 fill out the form and send to the Dennis Kucinich Campaign Headquarters in Cleveland. The DK Campaign has to give you permission to run and the state Democratic Committee has to receive that form by Jan. 8, 2008. Step 2, Starting Jan. 24, 2008 and ending on Feb.12, gather at least 250 valid registered Democratic signatures from your Congressional District. Each nominating petition holds 50 signatures. Each sheet must be notarized by a notary public. This costs about $5.00 to $12.00 a sheet. My home owners and auto insurance broker did this for me for free. He happens to be a registered Democrat. I also had some done two years ago at work for $5.00 a sheet by a friend. I work at La Salle University. Step 3, on Feb.13, 2008 go to Harrisburg, PA to the Bureau of Elections, North Office Building, 2nd floor, submit your nomination petitions and pay $25.00. They suggested that you gather 500 signatures to have a cushion against signatures being challenged and invalidated. Be sure that you know your signers actual voting precinct or ward. Their postal address is not always their ward or precinct. When I gathered signatures for Chuck Pennacchio, I found this out the hard way, my postal address is Yardley, PA but my voting precinct is Lower Makefield, South Seventh. So having a print out of the voter file. I asked the establishment Democrats for a copy and they gave it to me because I have canvassed and volunteered to poll watch on several election days. You can petition the state Democratic committee to waive the fee. Ask friends, neighbors and relatives who are registered Democrats to gather signatures for you. Also, don't forget to ask the College Democrats and or Young Democrats to help you. My College Democrats chapter at La Salle is backing Hilliary. So it goes. The advisor is a Hilliary backer. You buy the voter file from the State and/or County Election Commission for $25.00. Step 3, on Primary Election Day, April 22, 2008, you must receive at 15% of the Democratic Primary Voters votes. If you reach that threshold in your Congressional District, then you can go to Denver, CO. The dates are August 24 to August 28th, 2008. Don't book your plane or hotel reservations. The DNC in Washington,DC. So I am going to have fund raisers. Car washes, bake sales, house parties. I showed "Sicko" and though I didn't get any money, I gained 10 volunteers to circulate petitions. If you are not part of DFA, Democracy For America where you live, join it or form a chapter. Dennis won their straw poll, but not enough to gain an endorsement. I am the coordinator for the Lower Bucks Chapter. Good skills and tools to use like this DK for P website. It you are in Western, PA, there will be a Weekend Academy Nov. 30 to Dec. 2 near Slippery Rock College. I am a graduate of this when the DFA did this at Penn in Philly. They also have Night School on line or DVD. All the materials can be copied, they are not copyrighted. If you run an win, ask for help from the DNC in Washington, D.C. If you win and can't go the State Dems will appoint a replacement from you Congressional District, most likely a Hilliary, Obama or Edwards backer. So if you do this start gathering funders, volunteers and backers. I thought I could stay with a former colleague from La Salle who just moved to a suburb of Denver, CO. The permission form, PA Delegate Selection Guide Plan and a Summary of the PA Delegate Selection Guide Plan are available at the PADEMS.COM Website. The nomination petitions will be available for download from the PA Department of State Website and they can be mailed to you. We have a PA State Kucinich for President Website, where this information is contained in the file section, PennsylvaniaForKucinich@yahoogroups.com . Best regards,Add your comment
