National Conference for Media Reform, earlly reg ends 11/17
Memphis, TN, Jan. 12-14, 2007
It's worth re-iterating that this conference is the one I'd recommend if you only go to one out-of-town event in 2007. The previous conference (last year in St. Louis) was a powerful experience with myriad presentations of practical approaches, and the variety of experience with reforming media in America. The list of speakers now includes:
- FCC Commissioner Jonathan Adelstein
- Ben Bagdikian, Author, The Media Monopoly
- David Brock, Author, Media Matters for America
- FCC Commissioner Michael Copps
- Davey D, DJ and Hip Hop Activist
- Phil Donahue, Television Host
- Jane Fonda, Actor and Co-Founder, Women's Media Center
- Kim Gandy, President, National Organization for Women
- Juan Gonzalez, New York Daily News
- Amy Goodman, Democracy Now!
- Robert Greenwald, Producer and Director
- Rev. Jesse Jackson, Civil Rights Leader
- Van Jones. ColorofChange.org
- Rev. Tim MacDonald, Civil Rights Leader
- Robert McChesney, President, Free Press
- Bill Moyers, Journalist and Author
- John Nichols, Journalist
- Katrina Vanden Heuvel, The Nation
Early registration ends Friday, Nov. 17.
