Sign-holding on Saturday morning

Anyone interested in holding signs at, say, Crossroads in Bellevue on Saturday morning? I did it last weekend, with a large, printed sign that reads:

Corruption
Botched War
$8 Trillion Debt
by Republcans [in smaller letters]

Lots of people beeped their horns and gave me the thumbs up.

Signs aren't sufficient to teach people about all the GOP lies! 50% of people still believe Saddam had WMDs. 55% think Bush is doing a good job on terror. Til recently, about 50% believed Saddam sponsored thee 9/11 attacks. We'd need big signs indeed to tell that and other messages.

I have another sign almost ready.

BTW, I was impressed by the turnout and the energy at the event on Wednesday at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue. If I'm not doing something useful every day to get regime change, I feel guilty. I think everyone should take initiative. Of course, we need to direct our efforts in the most productive direction. I'd like to hear more ideas. People probably want to contribute and feel that they're doing good.

More ideas about generating publicity

Meeting with our Senators is a great idea. In addition, I think we should organize events that get publicity: mock trials, vigils, prayer meetings against the war, lectures, music concerts, poetry readings, and parodies of Republicans. There is tremendous pent-up anger and frustration, and people would respond positively if they felt their participation could make a difference.

In particular, parody is a great weapon: it can be both funny and biting.

I've heard many Democrats say that we should keep the campaign "positive" and shouldn't lower ourselves to the level of conservatives like Rush Limbaugh and Karl Rove (who have been extremely effective at rousing pseudo-populist outrage against liberals and Big Government). However, their tactics are dishonest and manipulative. We need only state the truth about all the disastrous policies and actions of the GOP. We mustn't be afraid to state the truth!!!!
