Please Help Me Become the Next Candidate Endorsed By DFA

Today Democracy for America announced that I am a finalist for one of their national endorsements. Like they have done in past years, this endorsement will be determined democratically through online voting.

In the 2004 presidential election I served as Howard Dean's communications director for the state of Ohio. During that election I witnessed first-hand how passionate the grassroots can be, and I saw how grassroots supporters will pour their hearts out for what they believe in. Right before I announced I was running for Congress back in February, I had a conversation with the staffers that I brought on to manage my campaign. They asked me how important grassroots support was to me personally. Because of my experience on the Dean campaign I was able to tell them right away that running a strong grassroots campaign was my number #1 priority.

Since then, I'm proud to say that some of the most passionate volunteers in the nation are helping me take back Ohio's 3rd District. You can tell from this picture of a regular night in my office that people are getting energized and excited here in Ohio.

The support that I'm gaining helps me know that everything up to now -- all those long hours and nights away from my family -- has been worth it. I put special importance in this DFA endorsement because of the people it represents. DFA is the largest democratic grassroots organization in the nation. These are the people that I want to work with, and this is where I came from.
