About Me:

Currently, I am running for the US Senate as a Democrat in Maryland. As a professor teaching political history and women's history for 32 years at American University, I am running to be the only lifetime teacher in the Senate since Paul Wellstone. I am running in the model of Wellstone as a candidate of principle, backbone, courage, and determination.

As a civil rights expert, I have has testified in 70 civil rights and voting rights cases. Recently I testified six times in Texas against Tom DeLay's political gerrymandering and destruction of Hispanic and African-American voting rights. I was the expert for the US Commission on Civil Rights for Florida's 2000 presidential election. I discovered the racial disparities in ballot rejection that cost African-Americans 50,000 votes and Al Gore the election.

I was the National Political Analyst for CNN headline news and a columnist for Maryland issues of the Gazette newspapers. I have provided commentary for all networks and cable outlets and for many worldwide broadcasting companies including the BBC. I have lectured around the nation and the world on poliitical issues. I am running on the theme that there is too much government intruding in our private lives and too little government meeting our needs.
