Illinois Progressive 6th Dems Meeting Notes and Meeting Annoucement

The notes from our last general meeting have been uploaded. They have also been uploaded to the YAHOO groups file section.

What brought us together was our support of Christine Cegelis and Lindy
Scott. Although we come from varying backgrounds and don't agree on all the issues, this group should not be a source of divisiveness within the local Democratic organization. It is a supplement to the existing group that meets our need to work toward progressive goals.

The Executive Committee wanted to help develop 6th Dems as a unified voice for Progressives within the 6th Congressional District. We wanted that voice to speak in support of Progressive candidates AND TO GET THEM ELECTED. That voice must be more than a mailing list or listserve. We need to have common goals and we need to have concrete plans to reach them. To define goals and develop plans, we need to formalize our group structure at a general meeting. And we must each be willing to work to achieve our goals.

The last General Meeting was not well attended. Maybe it conflicted with the season finale of Grey's Anatomy, maybe it was the change in meeting location, or maybe you are no longer interested in participating in this group.

Our next general meeting is scheduled for Monday June 19th at 7 PM at Panera Bread in Wheaton on Butterfield Road.

If you want to have a say in the future of this group, please make plans to be there. Until then, we encourage all of you to think about what it is that you expect from the Illinois Progressive Sixth Dems. Questions?
