"We Can't Afford to be Neutral on a Moving Train"
As our four days of action come to a close tomorrow, let's lend a voice to our environment.Today John Deutch, an Ex-CIA officer, said " The United States must adopt a carbon emission control policy."
We're way behind no thanks to James "global warming is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people", Inhofe(R-OK) and the American Enterprise Institute.
Though, as Sarah Stillman of TruthDig writes, “If a single trend is connecting both sides of the Atlantic now, it’s the grand revival of grass-roots environmentalism.“
The U.S. needs a tremendous amount of political will to even start coping with her energy standard issues. Tomorrow, 20th March, is Climate Crisis Action Day!
"Join thousands of dedicated activists for an action day at the US Capitol building in Washington, DC on March 20, 2007, along with politicians, celebrities, and community leaders. We'll even take you into the halls of Congress to meet your elected officials.
What are we asking for? Sensible solutions to global warming, a path to a clean energy future, and permanent protections for the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge – a land perpetually threatened by a warming planet."~Climate Crisis Learn More
If you can't make it to D.C. but want to help politically, Learn More and voice your concerns directly to the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming.Of course there is no better way to get involved than to take action and donate directly to the legal arm of Sierra Club, Earth Justice
What legislation are you working on? It's clear our Federal government will continue to lag behind unless we put political pressure on them to work towards a common goal. Nationally we have to do this in unison. The International community is growing restless as are many Americans.
Hey, Spain's economy and "regulatory will" is passing a law that would require "every new or newly renovated building to have solar power systems." Where's the U.S. National Policy?
In New Jersey we're gaining coalition and congressional support for the Global Warming Response Act. Kevin Law, new chairman of the Long Island Power Authority made it to the Sunday NY Times to stress conservation.
While the EPA continues to ignore concerns and orders for emission standards, they do offer ways kids can work to make a difference!
Our friends at Treehugger urge to look into incentive based recycling.
Itching to write about environmental issues? Check out the Sierra Investigative Journalism Project and the Eco Talk Blog. Even if you can't make it to D.C., show your support for this event by visitng Climate Crisis Action today!
