Spring during the day is actually Winter at night!!!

Written by: David Reed on Mar 31, 2007 4:38 PM EDT

During the next weather report you see on television; look at the temperatures listed for the night as well as the day!  Why am I bringing this to your attention?  I have been in contact with the Delonis Shelter of Ann Arbor, MI twice by phone this week; monitoring the fate of the homeless people they abandoned on to the streets on the morning of Monday, March 26, 2007.  The weather is now in a cold snap!!  Last night I checked the outdoors at 2:30 AM and observed that it was 40 degrees out and damp cold!!!  That alone means head and chest colds that can and will be swiftly fatal; especially on weekends when everything is closed so help is unavailable.  How should one try to observe the homeless in Ann Arbor, MI sometime during this weekend?  To try to avoid being arrested and/or otherwise persecuted; an elderly woman, developmentally disabled person or even a young man or woman will attempt to be out of sight and out of mind to the general public by being alone in the crowd!  Certain clues will give that person away!!  Is a person sitting alone in a coffee shop suddenly crying for no apparent reason?  Does the person sitting alone at the internet terminal in the undergraduate or graduate library of the University of Michigan have what seems to be a travel bag with them for some reason?  As evening falls, the hardest part of all takes place!!!  What I did last year when I was in that predicament myself was I would find places to sit in the vicinity of the U of M Student Union Building because I could use the only lavatories available there as well as get water.  With my travel bag and brief case with me I was at  arrest risk by the police for trespassing and loitering because I was obviously homeless!  Even with extra clothes on from my travel bag; freezing to death in abandoned and disregarded desolation turnes the minutes

into hours!!  At one point during the night I found a hiding place in an enclosed in granite porch of a church where I slept wearing my additional clothes and ski mask.  During the night I heard a person entering the enclosed porch area (that also used to stay in the warming center of the Delonis Shelter) who was a developmentally disabled female and noticed her panic realizing that she had stumbled into the area of a man who was lying on floor and was also freezing to death but was wearing a ski mask!!!  I cried out to her: "You're safe here!" but it was too late and she fled...perhaps somewhere to her death...because she ran from the one person who would help her!!  Had I run after her it would have made me look like a criminal chasing a helpless developmentally disabled female!!!  Click here to see how it went for me from there: http://messages.yahoo.com/Cultures_%26_Community/Crime/threadview?m=tm&bn=18077660&tid=630&mid=647&tof=63&rt=2&frt=2&off=1  and click here to see how it went for the others from there: http://messages.yahoo.com/Cultures_%26_Community/Crime/threadview?bn=18077660&tid=630&mid=720  Don't wait to help the homeless people trapped in Ann Arbor, Michigan!  Click here for information to attend the next Ann Arbor, MI City Council Meeting: http://www.ci.ann-arbor.mi.us/citycouncil/index.html  Waiting at all will mean the end for many!!!!!!!!!!
