GOTV Meeting

Written by: Gordon Holmes on Oct 13, 2006 10:09 AM EDT

"Democrats voting for Democrats" started the final push in the get out the vote drive. We had an enthusiastic group of ten show up for our last formal meeting before the election. Considering all the conflicting schedules with other campaign rallies, this was a good turnout. Cathy Holmes provided a wonderful pre-meeting buffet that fed the body, prior to our feeding the soul.

The new GOTV windshield stickers were handed out, along with door hangers and suggestions as to their best use. Members needing their precinct list information were told to contact Jack Boyte. We had a good discussion covering the importance of activating the precincts and getting every vote possible to the polls on the 7th.

One new idea is to have all democrats wear a colored paper clip on their collar or dress during the week prior to the election. This is a noncontroversial method of showing you are a proud democrat. Hopefully, it will energize other democrats to step up and reclaim our proud heritage. This idea comes from another time in history when paper clips were used as a silent protest to crimes being committed against humanity. Please check out the site, www.paperclipsmovie.com/

DFA National has sticky notes available for GOTV activities. Please visit this site for samples. These are very eye catching and should fit in well with our other items. www.democracyforamerica.com/stickit

If anyone needs additional information or help with implementing these ideas, email or call Gordon or Jack.

Please don't come up on Nov. 8th with "Oh, I wish I had done more". As they say in sports, "let's leave it all on the field".
