New 5 Minute Video for Simpson Campaign.
CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE SAMM SIMPSON RELEASES YOUTUBE VIDEO, REINTRODUCES SELF TO VOTERS
Independent-thinking Democrat Makes Case With “New Media”
(Pinellas County, Florida)— Samm Simpson, an independent-thinking Democrat making her second bid for Florida’s 10th Congressional district seat has just released a YouTube video to reintroduce herself to voters, state her case, and map out her vision for her district and the country.
“I am running for Congress because the truth matters. The Constitution matters. You matter, and so do your grandchildren,” Ms. Simpson begins in her five minute long video debut, which can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ChZjnGJf0M.
Simpson ran in 2006 and garnered 34 percent of the vote against a candidate whose funds far outweighed hers.
Through the video, Simpson seeks to appeal to voters’ minds and hearts on a variety of issues, and does not mince words.
"The video helps explain my biography, my professional background and how that translates into a quest for public Service. I also touch on the serious issues of the war, the economy, our loss of civil liberties, the ever-increasing debt, our responsibility to veterans, and more. I trust that a passionate desire to help people in public service will win out over status quo machinery of money, ego and political entitlement—not just in Florida, but in every state of our Union," Simpson said.
The video’s text originated from a speech Simpson prepared for her first debate in May at the St. Petersburg Democratic Club. Simpson worked with Gulfport videographer Frank Prinzel. More videos are planned.

Dunedin resident and independent-thinking Democrat, Samm Simpson qualified in March 2008with over 5,000 voter signed petitions as a candidate for Congress in Florida’s 10th District. Samm’sendorsements include the Progressive Democrats of America ( PDA) http://www.pda.org and Women’s Actions for New Directions (WAND) http://www.wand.org.
The fly in the ointment of coercion as a major component of economic strategy isn't just that "slaves" tend not to be productive or inventive; it's that the regimen, as an example to others, is depressive. The idea that if some people are forced to work, others will work harder to avoid being coerced, is just plain wrong. Observing other people being tortured is intimidating, but the intimidated are less energetic and thus less productive.
Of course, if you pretend that more money spent on more people producing the same result (five people initialling a communication, instead of one) is not a sign of inflation, then the decrease in productivity won't be noticed, will it?
It's no longer necessary to leave forwarding addresses on prior threads. LOL
looks like more work stopping rain, so I may well take off for the big Obama Rally
it just seems right to have a bigger crowd in the R convention venue than they will even if a little juvenile
crops are being hurt here in the breadbasket, expect higher grocery prices
looks like it could be a busy SD movement day today ?

Kennedy undergoing surgery for brain tumor
By ANDREW MIGA, Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON - Sen. Edward M. Kennedy is undergoing surgery Monday at Duke University Medical Center for his cancerous brain tumor, his office said.
...wonder if Mike will be on the team that operates on Ted Kennedy?
No Phil...........to the Senators benefit most likely.........however Ill be lurking about over at "North"...........lots of reporters, free cookies and tv crews....................Ill be cool
The devastation is mind boggling from the F5 tornado here yet is still less than one thousanth of the Katrina havoc. I was reminded again from the FEMA trailer story. McAncient keeps prattling about Barack going to Iraq and hasn't done a thing to help the Gulf Coast, Obama has visited many times. It would be pretty embarassing for McCain to pick the Gov. of Louisiana for VP when the poor guy can't even get housing built.
I'm thinking every one of Obama's contributers should kick in $20 the next couple of days to celebrate the milestone of a majority of the convention delegates, and blastoff towards General Election victory.
Wasn't he still debating whether to take public financing? LOL
I'm being facetious (sp?). I know it was McCain who was playing games with the public dollars.
I don't think it's good to respond to EVERY appeal. Makes them cocky. Besides, we've got to save some bucks for the rest of the Democratic ticket. DFA has 256 candidates on its list. Even if Mainefem complains, I think DFA needs more funds. If nothing else, the track record is inspiring to other candidates who might hesitate to take a chance without some backing.
- Clinton may well just keep running to raise money to pay back her personal loan.

What's so hard about saying that Puerto Rico made such and such a choice?
Why not be accurate about who's actually DONE something?
The Obama campaign took up where Dean left off. A myriad of tiny contributions are like snowflakes landing on the top of a glacier. Once it requires the mass to start moving it levels everything in its path.
The differnce being that the Dean campaign was all grassroots--Obama gets half his money from fat cats
Just twitting you. Like me, you were slow to come 'round to Obama and opted to back Edwards. LoL
Sometimes I find it helpful to scan the non-US media for a sense of perspective (as opposed to reading the Hillary blog, which I find both sad and scary because of the almost unanimous claim of posters to leave the party, vote for McCain, stay home. I hope that this is loyalty talking and that on both sides we recognize that to vote for McCain is to vote against our candidate's values and to vote against the good of our country.)
Here are two stories this morning from the UK Guardian

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2008/jun/02/barackobama.hillaryclinton
By the way, I agree with those who remind us that this nomination is not decided by popular vote but by delegates. The really important point is that the popular vote is almost tied. A win in the popular vote (by either candidate) might be a moral victory, but is not a convincing argument of the obvious superiority or electability of the winner. I doubt that there will be masses of superdelegates buying into this argument. FWIW, I predict that the 3 uncommitted SDs from Maine will break 2-1 for Obama if the nomination is not decided before the convention; 2-1 or 3-0 if it's decided in the next week.

The popular vote at this point is really rather meaningless. Not only do the voters know it's only a preliminary round, but, because of the length of the process, the information load of the later voters is different from the earlier vote.
Nagourney is at it again in the NYT--a "go Hillary" puff piece.
furthermore, his last name is very close to a fish disease:

Prison ships?
I mentioned the other day that the Republicans, having been denied "involuntary servitude" have institutionalized voluntary servitude via the military. Now it seems that slave ships have also undergone a conversion, into prison ships.
I say "Republicans" because they do subscribe to the proposition that the purpose of government is to control the population, either by the use of force to coerce or eliminate, or by the used of physical restraints. If one subscribes to that proposition, then increasing military assets and prisons is entirely consistent. Which is why the Congress has been complicit.
I'm not sure the corporations should be blamed. They do produce and deliver what's ordered.
The blame lies with a pervasive antagonism against other people, not because of what they do, but because of who they are. This antagonism, in turn, can only be mollified in two ways: slavish suservience by the targets or their removal from this earth or into prisons.
What used to be a strategy of social cohesion, "shared antagonism," has turned vicious and lethal. It's the equivalent of training dogs for dog fights. There seemed to be hints of it in the Clinton protestors that were bussed in.
It's not going to be enough to point the finger at Bush/Cheney.
It should also be pointed out that as an economic strategy coercion has proved a definitive failure. The American economy is in the tank and buying more tanks is not going to get it out.
