Bye, Bye, Blackwell?

Written by: Maynard Johnson on Feb 22, 2007 6:55 PM EST

Former Ohio Secretary of State, Republican Ken Blackwell, may have lost his bid for governor and lost his job as Ohio Secretary of State.  But his legacy lives on in the lawsuits against him that arose out of his activities with the 2004 and 2006 general elections.  (Some might call Blackwell's actions "tampering" with elections.) The courst ruled against Blackwell, resulting in state liability for an award of attorneys fees, which his office conveniently did not pay before he left office.  The total court-awarded attorney fee amount is about $225,000.
The newly elected Secretary of State, Jennifer Brunner, may be stuck with the attorney fee awards caused by Blackwell's wrongful actions.  She has announced that she is requesting the Ohio Attorney General to discharge the nine special counsel the former Republican administration had hired at Blackwell's request.  For details, see: http://www.dispatch.com/emailme/emailme.php?story=dispatch/2007/02/18/20070218-B4-03.html
More recently, Ken Blackwell has surfaced as a right wing blogger on townhall.com. http://www.townhall.com/content/e5507253-4592-4c89-988d-dbbab941351c  In the above entry, he complains about the "liberal media" and claims that liberals don't know how to do talk radio.  Example: "While liberals hold a virtual monopoly on broadcast television and print news..." is opposite a picture from the Sean Hannity show on Fox News.  Mr. Blackwell is not bothered by hte contradiction.
