Sharks Ahoy! This Is No Time to Abandon Ship

Some of Barack's supports are, understandably, grieveously upset over recent actions, especially the FISA vote.  But, this is not the time to abandon ship.  The water is filled with neocon sharks that will dump us out of our lifeboats (if we think we have one) and eat us alive.
 
Yes, protest FISA.  Protest any perceived backtracking on Iraq.  But don't threaten to withhold your contributions or your vote.  The alternative is too awful to imagine. Here in Oklahoma I'm surrounded by Democrats--including young Democrats-- who are so afraid of a man who's only half-white that they plan to withhold their vote or even (shudder) vote for McBush.  And, although it defies logic, they are opposed to increasing taxes on that top one percent who own as much wealth as the bottom 90 percent.
 
Obama is not perfect (well, duh!).  But neither am I (there, I've confessed). And neither was Clinton, neither was Kennedy.  Neither was Johnson, who sacrificed the Democratic party's future in the South in order to pass the civil rights act, the best piece of legislation of modern times.
 
You and I are better people than this, that we would abandon our wounded soldiers, abandon the slaughter in Iraq, abandon the economic future of our children because Sen. Obama may not live up to all our ideals.
