What exactly is a progressive candidate?

...or is it even appropriate to refer to candidates as "progressive"  other than in a socially progressive sense as the DFA home page describes.  I am bemused by a number of my colleagues who call themselves "progressives" but are basically rude, obstructionist fascists.  They dis the Democrats who can and do get elected and yet call themselves democrats.  Is there a ruling somewhere on this?  I would love to lose these turkeys and let them start their own progressive / independent community and conduct their dysfunction away from my County Committee.
