Did you get indigestion during your local news?

Written by: volney simmons on Aug 22, 2007 6:40 PM EDT

I wonder if a lot of DFA-ers got the same shock I did tonight -- placidly watching my local news when BAM! the most offensive advertisement I have ever seen appears. Watch it here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNTWYnPi8yc

Put on by a new organization called "Freedom's Watch", the ad shows a maimed veteran and uses his voice to convey standard pro-war messages along the lines of, "Don't let my sacrifice be in vain."

But then the truly terrible and shocking part. Footage of the Twin Towers wreathed in black smoke with the audio saying, "They attacked us..."

Yep, broad daylight and official peddling of the BIG LIE. Right during dinner time.

Who's behind this steaming load of elephant dung ($15 million of it, coming your way from now until the Petraeus report comes out)? According to MSNBC, the contributors include:

  • Anthony Gioia, former ambassador to Malta. Gioia is the Chairman and CEO of Gioia Management Company, Buffalo, New York.
  • Kevin Moley, whom Bush appointed U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva in September 2001.
  • Mel Sembler, whom Bush appointed as US ambassador to Italy in 2001, a long-time supporter of the Republican Party.
  • Howard Leach, who was Bush's ambassador to France from 2001-2005 and an original Bush Pioneer.
  • Dr. John Templeton, chairman and president of the John Templeton Foundation.
  • Sheldon Adelson, casino mogul, ranked as the third-richest American (worth $20 billion) according to Forbes in 2006.
  • Ari Fleischer, former White House press secretary.

If you have ties to any of these people, let them or their companies know how much you object to lies dressed in million-dollar wardrobes. Tell your local TV stations the advertisements are dangerous and offensive and you want them off the air. Go after these people. They have no more right to lie to us than to yell "fire" in a crowded theater.
