A genuine field effort is needed

Written by: Greg Dolezal on Sep 30, 2007 11:41 PM EDT

There is no excuse for Athens to be represented by a Republican in congressman.

While it's true that the current congressional district maps make it tougher for a Democrat to win - it is quite possible!  What has been lacking is a field plan that includes all of the counties in the 10th and enough volunteers to indentify all of the pluses and get them to the polls.

Additionally, we can not allow the racial and class segregation that exists in Georgia to keep us from including all likely Democratic voters behind one successful candidate.  There can't be a white candidate and a black candidate - there has to be a Democratic candidate who can unify us for a win.

I plan to organize volunteers to walk and talk once a suitable Democratic candidate declares he or she is running for the seat.

If you have information to share about who is running, if there are staff positions, and what you are doing in this area please contact me.
