SECRETARY OF STATE PROJECT RAISES OVER $10,000 ON-LINE FOR CARMELLA SABAUGH

MOUNT CLEMENS - Michigan Secretary of State candidate Carmella Sabaugh has received over $10,000 from on-line donors through the Secretary of State Project, an activist effort to elect progressive Secretary's of State committed to protecting voting rights.

"I am very grateful to the Secretary of State Project and their supporters across the country," said Sabaugh. "However thanks to grassroots efforts like the Secretary of State Project I am able to bring my message of fair elections and improved ballot access to Michigan voters."

While she has been outspent by her Republican incumbent opponent, Sabaugh has kept to focus of the Secretary of State's race where it should be, on election reform. Michigan voters are reacting positively to Sabaugh's calls for no-reason absentee voting, Election day registration, and her pledge not to serve on campaign committees while Secretary of State.

"I've criss-crossed Michigan. Everywhere I go the response to my reform agenda is overwhelmingly positive," said Sabaugh. "The efforts of bloggers and on-line activists on my behalf has been invaluable. And on-line donation programs like the Secretary of State Project have provided the resources to take my campaign directly to Michigan voters. I can't thank the on-line community enough."

The Secretary of State Project (www.secstateproject.org/...) is an on-line effort to raise awareness and campaign dollars for seven Secretary of State candidates committed to standing up for voter rights. Sabaugh's supporters can also contribute directly to the campaign on-line through her website (sabaughforsos.com/contribute.htm...).
