Kucinich In A Landslide
I'm thrilled that Dennis Kucinich has the support to win so impressively ( 41 states and over 30% of the vote). As has been said here, it was always unlikely anyone could win 66% but I hoped there would be more publicity, support for the winner than an attaboy on the back pages of DFA. At the very least it seems you could post it on the log-in pages and home pages of the groups.
Tighten the Screws!

As most people with their heads up must have noticed recently...things nationally are coming to a head. Support for H Res 333, impeachment for Cheney is growing faster, at 14 last I looked. Republican leaders are turning against Bush's Iraq war and other policies. Rep John Conyers, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee intends to hold hearings this week about Bush's commutation of Libby's sentence and then there is the matter of witholding information contempt case..or cases. Cindy Sheehan announced that if Pelosi doesn't put impeachment back on the table by July 23 she will run for Pelosi's seat. The screws are being turned tighter and more than ever we need to keep showing that there is national support, even in little Oklahoma, the center of the country.
1. Call Nancy Pelosi and ask if she is going to put impeachment back on the table or turn her job over to Cindy Sheehan? 1-415-556-4862 and 1-202-225-4965
2. Email Nancy fancypants and ask her the question above. americanvoices@mail.house.gov and sf.nancy@mail.house.gov
3. Write US House of Representatives Judiciary Chair John Conyers and tell him Cheney is testing whether he will be king or impeached. Which does Conyers choose.? Please support H Res 333 for Cheney.

The Honk for Impeachment Event
Linked to groups: T-Town DFA
We all need to do what we can to let people know IMPEACHMENT is not a dirty word. BushCo is obviously not afraid to do much of anything anymore so it's imperative that we get the word out NOW and standing on the curb with a sign that says, "Honk for Impeachment" reaches more people, short of a highway sign than anything else. Some ideas for the event....
Items to bring. Signs, bottled water, sun glasses, cheap camera, group business card.
Getting cars to honk isn't difficult, especially if
you look enthusiastic. I always set a goal of getting
delivery trucks, city buses and Semi trucks to honk
( big air horns in response to your signs are a rush).
Sometimes a whole group of cars goes by without a honk
and sometimes one honks and the rest chime in, sounding
as if all ten or so in the passing group are honking.
We get one or two one-finger salutes but, honestly
that just tells me we are doing a good job which makes
me smile bigger and I let them see me waving and
smiling in their rear-view mirror.
Here and most places I think, the area from the curb
and back a few feet is public property so nobody can
tell you to leave but you might need to think a bit
more about where to park if there happen to be several
unfriendly businesses in the area. We've never had any
real problems in this area.
Obviously you want to post the event as many places
as possible. Our local Democratic County Party puts it
in their newsletter, it goes in the T-Town DFA event
posting, the Impeach Cheney First (meetup)posting and
the Tulsa Impeachment Committee ( ImpeachOk1.org )
posting as a minimum.
Take a sign, a wave and a smile and you'll have
fun.
Oklahoma: State Party Passes Impeachment

June 4, 2007Oklahoma: 15th Dem State Party to Pass Impeachment
Resolution
Filed under: Impeachment Progress News, Oklahoma -
Jodin Morey @ 9:53 pm
After Downing Street - The Oklahoma Democratic Party
passed an impeachment resolution for Bush-Cheney at
its annual state convention on May 19, 2007 in
Oklahoma City. The text of the resolution reads:
IMPEACHMENT OF PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH AND VICE
PRESIDENT DICK CHENEY
We support an investigation by the United States House
of Representatives that will in our opinion lead to
the impeachment of President George W. Bush and Vice
President Dick Cheney.
Oklahoma is the 15th state Democratic Party to pass an
impeachment resolution. Other political parties who
have passed impeachment resolutions include Democrats
Abroad in France, the US Green Party, and the
California Green Party.

Honk for Impeachment - Tulsa
Linked to groups: T-Town DFA
I thought I'd brag a bit about the T-Town DFA "Honk for Impeachment" event. We had a great afternoon. About 2 hours from the meetup time
MoveOn sent two of us flyers concerning troop funding to deliver to
Representative Sullivan. The timing couldn't have been better since
that was where we were headed. All 5 of us signed, added a note and
delivered the flyers to Sullivan's office. Before that a man from KRMG
radio came by and interviewed us. He said he would be putting the
interviews on the radio. Along with all the honks of people wanting
impeachment and the other drivers seeing Tulsa interest in
impeachment, it was an exciting day!

Which Way Is Up Bush?
Linked to groups: T-Town DFA
The slug who would be king forgets what his story is this week. I plainly heard him say, "If they don't want us there we will leave." Condaleza Rice said recently that we do not intend to leave. Which is the truth? The majority of Iraqi parliamentarians have signed a draft bill that would establish a timetable for the withdrawal of US troops. Polls show that 65 percent of Iraqis want the occupation to end and yet we plan to send in yet more troops. When will they learn that more troops only mean more targets for the human / roadside bombs and what is going to happen when we leave will happen if we leave now or ten years from now.

Powell Top Aide Gives Impeacement Advice
Linked to groups: T-Town DFA
Colin Powell's former top aide, Lawrence Wilkerson is talking impeacement. In an interview yesterday he suggested that pro impeachment people should look at the torture of detainees and how we got into this war, particularly the cooking of the books on intelligence running up to the war.

To see keen insight to why we are in Iraq see the PBS interview of Wilkerson in their excellent FRONTLINE The Dark Side series. Especially telling is...
[What do you mean "did far too well"? What is the balance of power like today?]
Today, that's gone well beyond their wildest expectations. The Defense Department gets $400 billion-plus [a year]; the State Department gets $30 billion. There is an antipathy on the part of the rest of the government, particularly the Defense Department, towards the State Department because the State Department has no domestic constituency; it has a constituency of foreigners. ... There's a natural antipathy between the State Department and the Defense Department. ...

Republicans Confront Bush

Tuesday 11 Republicans met with Bush to let hin know he is about to lose their jobs and the country does not trust him now.
The NBC link I posted yesterday did work well so here is a better one and the entire transcript of the story showing how nervous the R people are getting. KEEP UP THE PRESSURE!

A group of 11 republican congressmen met with Bush today and told him, among other things, "news on the war must come from the top general because you have lost your credibility!"

Impeach Cheney First Results
Linked to groups: T-Town DFA
The April 27 Impeach Cheney First protest was awonderful success! Several groups from Tulsa, Oklahoma
City and Stillwater came together to create a ruckus
and everyone had a chance to say their piece as there
were 6 or 8 media outlets on hand. We even drew a
reporter from Tele-Mundo! Contrary to local media
accounts about 95 people showed up with a max of about
75 at any one time.
We chanted, sang, waved signs, staged a die-in and read the names of the Oklahoma soldiers who to this day have died in Iraq. To those that made it, thanks for the great turn out! To those that couldn't, I'm sorryyou missed a good time. Mark Manley
