How to start impeachment

John Conyers is the gatekeeper for impeachment in the US Congress, as Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. He was one of the leaders on impeachment until Nancy Pelosi announced that "impeachment is off the table." Conyers still says he wants to do it, but we have to make him. His latest excuse is that impeachment hearings would hurt Barack Obama by giving the Republican attack machine an issue to go after.

Well, I don't think so, and neither to the Obama supporters I have talked to, and neither does Code Pink. In a meeting with Conyers, Code Pink activists told him that starting impeachment hearings will hurt John McCain, because he will have to either support Cheney and Bush's crimes, or denounce them. So far he supports them, including Iraq, torture, and the rest.

So tell John Conyers that Obama is beating McCain in the polls, we have Obama's back, and Obama fights against the attack machine better than any other candidate in decades. Then tell Conyers to do his job.
