** Need Help with Campaign in Asbury Park! **

Can fellow DFA Members and Progressive Democrats head a request to help myself and whichever ticket I run on to get elected to the Asbury Park City Council this May? The Poor here and Minorities are still being severly abused and forgotten, and since Jim Kaedy has quit his seat on the Council, there isn't ONE remaining member who has the best interests of the "Community" in mind!

Here's my Platform I'm running on:


 My primary Issues so far are:

1,000 Units of Three Tier Affordable Housing with lots of L.I. included (Over @ 10 years ... In sync with COAH). Affordable Housing exists for Low (L.I.), Middle (M.I.) AND Upper Class People! But we need mostly the Lower end stuff (Because of who lives here) IF they built a Slew of L.I. AND M.I. Condos & Apartments, they'd GO real fast and Eliminate the City's deficit within 2 years or less!  <big>Tax Base STABILITY! <small>By the way, this is already a Legal Requirement that the city's been dodging for 6 Years now ... See COAH on NJ's State Site!</small></big>
2.  A Rent Control Ordinance which the Poor (60% of population) NEED!
If you go to  http://www.policylink.org/ and find the section on Rent Control, they show you how ALL of the Cities WITH it over the past 30-40 Years did MUCH better economically Overall, than the ones without it! For a short version, there's less of a Vacancy Rate (Which is extremely high in Asbury Park), Taxes are PAID (High Uncollected Taxes ALSO in Asbury) and people stay WAY longer in Apartments with Rent Control, sometimes for decades (Which Creates a better atmosphere for Businesses, as well, because they build a Steady "Customer Base" WITHIN the City) ...Which is what WE need BADLY! Many of the Businesses on Cookman Ave. are NOT doing well ... I've talked to them! They may "Fib" to other Business Owners out of embarrassment, but they're HURTING! And the City doesn't CARE (Now)!

3. Jobs & Job Training - BADLY needed for our 10,000 Poor Persons here, and the Middle Class, as well.
Asbury Park has a 60% True Poverty Rate, and Including Kids, that's actually Over 14,000 people now! It would NOT be difficult to start an Awesome Jobs Program for many of these people, but except for the Mexicans, who supply cheap labor for White businesses, the Redevelopment People want to get RID of everybody else who's poor, especially about 7,000 African Americans!  BAD Idea! When you get people better Jobs, like Union Jobs, guess what? They can Buy Homes (Or Rent nice expensive Apartments) and Spend MONEY in Local Businesses! I can Bring People IN who will help with the Jobs, but the City & Redevelopers ATTACK anyone who even Tries ...Including ME!

4. Improved Education in A.P. - Kids aren't even getting BOOKS, even though $25K is spent on Education per Student ... $80 Million total, about 75% from the State ...YOU pay and the kids get NOTHING (almost)! You should KNOW that "Education makes a Man"(Or Woman)! The kids here barely get out of High School. If they get College Degrees or Tech or Union Training, by statistics they'll earn @ $500K to $2 Million more in their lifetime, easily! Plus, they won't turn to Crime if they can Earn a good Living!

5. The adoption of an Anti-Eminent Domain Ordinance! This now benefits Middle Class People the most, but Eminent Domain also dislocates a disproportionate amount of Minorities, as well. So an Ordinance against E.D. would help Both M.I. & L.I. People!
6. Equality for Everyone Living Here!  A No-Brainer. It says right in the Declaration of Independence/ Bill of Rights that we ALL are "Created Equal", but it's Never been enforced Morally or Legally in Asbury Park!

Since I helped over 10 Democrats in the past 5 Years with their Campaigns to one degree or another, I'd appreciate a recipriction of my efforts and some Loyalty and following of Democratic & Progressive Values!
