How desperate is Dave Reichert?

"Every year hundreds of children and animals are posoned by ingesting antifreeze or coolant.  Because of the sweet taste and bright color, children and animals are easily attracted to it.  I am a proud co-sponsor of HR 2567, which was introduced by..."

This was in a letter I received from his office today.

We can't discuss Iraq.

We can't discuss Katrina.

We can't discuss the fact that one of his own subcommittees, after over a year, still don't have a means for fire and plice units to communicate with each other via shared frequncies.

We can't discuss the dubious economy.

We can't discuss the end of habeous corpus - that any of us, you and I, could at any moment be arrested without charges, tossed into a jail cell, tortured, all without a warrant of what crimes we have been accused of having committed.  All without having to tell anbody else just what they've done to you or why.

No, we're going to talk about the children.  And our pets.

About making something smell and taste bad for children and animals as Dave's final election bid.  

Now I grant you that antifreeze is something that has the potential to do harm.  No question about that.

But in the meantime, why must we ignore all the other things that have the potential to harm, and have already harmed, many, many more people?

I'm not worried about antifreeze.  I'm worried about kool-aid.

And I'm not drinking it.

End this nonsense.  Help make it happen.
