Impeachment Action

Early last month, I sent out a post regarding securing support for Congressman Kucinich's H. Res. 333 , impeachment of Vice President Dick "Fourthbranch" Cheney. I suggested we focus on key leaders as well as those who are most likely to act in order to get the ball rolling. I asked people to focus on NJ Congressman, Donald Payne, who is a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus as well as the Congressional Black Caucus. I left a message for his legislative director, Kerry McKenney, indicating that the people of NJ want him to support this resolution. I just received a phone message from Ms. McKenney this morning (July 9 a month later) regarding my call. To hear a message from the US Capitol on my answering machine with the words "regarding the impeachment of Vice President Cheney" was music to my ears. She said that she was going to bring this to his attention (how it doesn't have his attention already is beyond me).

It's rare that congressional staff actually return a call when someone (especially one who is not a direct constitutent) calls a member of Congress asking them to take a stand on something. This suggests to me that she, as legislative director, is open to this action. So, I am asking you all again - if you haven't called his office please do so today, if you have called already please do it again today. We must strike while the iron is hot. If Congressman Payne acts this week you will know you were instrumental in making it happen. The contact info is below. Please take 5 minutes now and make a call. If we all act together now it will make a difference.
