Political Skills:

1981, CED under Tom Hayden. As board member of Sac Nuclear Weapons Freeze, 198?, arranged, at State Capitol, speech by Bob Bowman re: Star Wars, + entertainment; got 400+ people on a weeknight. Then, I had a small, pt. business called News Media Contacting Service, from 1984-7? with office next to capitol in the old 927 J St. building with all the great groups like Common Cause, League of Women Voters, the Friends' legislative lobby group, blanking on name now... Anyway, as member of the Freeze in Sac, had been frustrated the media often shunned us, so started the business and Steve Barrow of CC helped me learn the ropes: Press releases, shmoozing (I already had English and counseling degrees, things came easily!) Planning events and arranged for the needs of reporters at big events. My office, for instance, was used for interviews between press and the scientists and UC administrators when we held a Joint Legislative Hearing to decide whether the state really wanted the UC's involvement with the Nuclear Weapons made for the country. People are "studying" that again, now.
Had a car accident; lost fifteen years, though kept studying (added a journalism degree from CSUS) politics, trends. Raised kids. I started my come-back with Sam Catalano in 2000 election, downtown Sac office, I arranged the tabling for voter registration all over Sac. Of course, phone banked, sold (in front of office, bumper stickers, buttons. Sometimes cleaned bathroom. Democrats pitch in!

About Me:

Ballet dancer. Continued, as my "hobby," all kinds of dance through age 33 (car accident).
My husband (Rob) of 32 years and I have two grown boys, both successful in the arts; one married. They live in NYC now, and were, coincidentally, home with us in Sac on 9/11. We just held each other as events occurred, shocked especially since they were to have returned to NY that morning! Also, Rob's best friend lost his daughter, Deora, on flight 93. We're very upset by Bush's messes.
