New Group - Iraq Veterans For Democracy

Written by: Vincent Geckler on Aug 29, 2007 6:30 PM EDT

Hey Everyone! I just wanted to take a moment and introduce myself. I am a Navy Veteran having served just over 8 years as a Hospital Corpsman. I was voluntold to go to Iraq in January of 2005 and returned to home soil October 2005. I was attached to a Marine  battalion since the Navy provides medical support for the Marines. When I stepped out on my very first combat patrol in the Al Anbar Province, I knew immediately that we did not belong there. At first I was excited to be doing something for a reason; to hunt down terrorists and help restore justice and order for the people in Iraq.

As you can clearly see, we're doing a bang-up job... of killing our country's own brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, sons, daughters, boyfriends, girlfriends and best friends, not to mention the innocent children, women and men that inhabited this foreign land. All of this killing is for what? How many more innocent lives must be taken until our "bosses" finally realize and own up to the fact that they have made a terrible mistake. Who are the real "War Criminals"?

My wonderful wife and I will be marching in Washington D.C. with the Veterans For Peace(VFP) and the Iraq Veterans Against the War(IVAW) on September 15th. Join us to make our points clear to Capitol Hill! Join us to help our voices be heard!
