Strange political email!!!

Written by: Jason Whisnant on Feb 5, 2008 3:40 PM EST

I just got a strange email. Not the least bit unusual, as strange emails are like smelly skunks, more are than aren't, if you get my drift. This one, however, claims to be coming from an Edwards supporter.

All across the country, John Edwards supporters plan to vote for him on Super Tuesday. Jointly, we have decided to vote the issues as he presented them and to send a message that our vote cannot be controlled or bought.

Has anyone else heard the first thing about this nonsense??? This sounds like a viral piece by someone who managed to hack John Edwards website and get (at least part of) his mailing list.

A quick google search of the fellow's name that sent this and John Edwards together, turn up 2 comments on news stories on MSNBC's website. One comment was a diatribe about how he is an immigrant from Costa Rica and Americans should take thier right to vote seriously and he has done some serious civics studies. The other is a comment on the (at that time) breaking story of Rezko being indicted and criticized MSNBC for not going after Obama because of a supposed pro-Barack bias.

Has this fellow figured out in his civics lessons that a vote for Edwards in primaries/caucuses probably won't be counted. Has he figured out from watching TV or listening to Thom Hartmann that vast numbers of people voting for Edwards would probably cause Obama to lose? I don't know. I'm posting the full letter below. Enjoy!

(P.S. The wierd spacing, spelling, and capitalization are how this came to me.)

February 5, 2008

All across the country, supporters of John Edwards, have made it known

That they will vote for him on Super Tuesday, February 5th. We have several theories as to why John "Suspended", not "Ended", his campaign, so abruptly.

In his speech, in New Orleans, he stumbled badly over the words "blaze

the trail to history, " as if he were reading it for the first time, or as if it had been

written for him. We agree, that John has never read a speech before. There are

rumors that CNN did not want him in the debate, that they wanted a two person

debate they could bill as "Historical". If you watched the debate, you will see that

Wolf Blitzer used those same words of "blazing the trail to history." We have also

heard rumors that Clinton supporters, had the DNC pressure John Edwards to step aside. If you and your group have been watching the presidential coverage, you know, that John Edwards received 7% of the media coverage in comparison to Clinton at 37% and Obama at 32%, in essence, the media promoted the candidates they wanted to win in this race, based on what would be good TV, and not by what is best for the middle class and poor in this country.

All across the country, John Edwards supporters plan to vote for him on Super

Tuesday. Jointly, we have decided to vote the issues as he presented them and

to send a message that our vote cannot be controlled or bought. We have plenty

of time to decide on a final candidate in November. We feel John Edwards set

the issues and corrective action plans, long before the other two candidates

decided that it would be in their best interest to support his position, to get

elected. The issues of poverty, rising costs of living for the middle class would

not be in the forefront of this election for both parties now, if John Edwards

had not so eloquently addressed those issues in his campaign.

The polls now show Clinton 41%, Obama 41% and 20% undecided. We believe

that 20% is the portion of votes that would have gone to John Edwards. This

percentage is sufficient to carry him to the convention and let him carry the

message of the middle class and poor to the national level, at the Democratic

Convention. Many of us have decided that we will remain united, first through

the primary elections, and later as a force to act on issues that impact us all.

We hope you will join this grass roots effort to show our continuing support

of John Edwards in Tuesday's February 5th elections and thereafter. John

"Suspended" but did not "End" his candidacy. We also know that just in

recent days, he requested that his name be left on applicable ballots and we

infer from that , that he wants the voters to speak for themselves and not be

the "spoiler" as the media portrayed him. Your vote will count! John needs

15% to earn delegates. Please share this with others. Vote for John Edwards,

the PEOPLE'S PRESIDENT February 5 th! Thank You!
