WANTED: Progressive candidates to step forward. Numerous positions open in

DETAILS:
The positions of Mayor and 2 to 3 City Council members are OPEN in most
Lincoln County towns. (See list of open positions for the November election
below).

Take back your country ­ the time is now! Please step forward if you've
ever had the urge to serve your community in an official position. An
"Office Candidate Training School" will be held this Spring. A Lincoln
County SLATE OF CANDIDATES will be supported.

In Newport, we have the opportunity to become the majority vote since the
positions of mayor and three council seats are open. Newport candidate
filing packets will be ready in mid-June, although you can pick up a packet
now by calling Peggy Hawker, City Recorder at City Hall, 574-0603. The
FILING DEADLINE is August 25.
