There are three exciting political events occuring downtown on May, all of which deserve participation.

If you can take the day off there is a march in support of undocumented workers on Monday which begins wiht, according to the Sun Times:

...a 10 a.m. rally at Union Park, 1501 W. Randolph. The march starts at noon and will move east on Randolph to DesPlaines, where it will turn south. It will then turn east on Monroe and Jackson, with marchers proceeding along both streets simultaneously.

The demonstration will end at Hutchinson Field in Grant Park, where a rally is scheduled.

The route will be closed to auto traffic most of the day, police said, adding that widespread congestion is expected and people should take public transportation. The CTA will run trains with extra cars and deploy additional buses and personnel, officials said.

Emboldened by the success of earlier marches nationwide, advocates are broadening their push against a proposed federal law that would criminalize being an illegal immigrant. Monday's rally comes as Congress struggles to craft a law addressing border security, providing temporary work visas and giving immigrants a shot at citizenship......

Organizers expect 300,000 people.

At 4:30 in Haymarket Square at Randolph & DesPlaines the Chicago Federation of Labor is organizing a rally:
