A few important notices and reminders:

1) "Every vote should count": Paper ballot Optical Scan voting machines for Buncome County:
Buncombe County is about to make a decision that will affect the way we vote for years to come. Our board of elections is leaning heavily towards the electronic touchscreen machine with the so-called "toilet paper" roll of verified vote.

2) Asheville DFA's Wed, April 5th agenda:
Update on Buncombe Co. voting machines and how you can help sway our elected leaders to go with paper ballots/optical scan machines.

Meet the Candidates: Buncombe County Primary Election candidates for sheriff, district court judge, for NC state house representatives, and for the District 11's congressional seat. Come see who you want to serve and represent you in elected office!

3) Regional Grassroots Activist Training at UNCA May 6&7
Asheville DFA and national DFA are putting a fantastic training opportunity together to hone the skills of activist newcomers and old timers. We have some great people coming together for this weekend, including locally elected progressives. See www.dfalink.com/nctraining

The weekend will be kicked off on Friday May 5th with the appearance of Markos Moulitsas, the founder and editor of www.dailykos.com, the most popular political blog in the universe. Markos will be here to promote his new book, "Crashing the Gate, Netroots, Grassroots, and the rise of People-Powered Politics".
