October 7th Candidate Clips

Hi Everyone! 
My name is Dave Volain and I am one of DFA's interns this fall.  I will be sending out candidate clips, such as the following, on a regular basis in order to keep everyone up to date on the buzz about our candidates in local and national media.

25th Congressional debate

Candidates including Dan Maffei were asked about trust and money, the bailout, and a government mandated program that would automatically deduct from your paycheck so that you had cash in your later years. Every answer had the answer.

Sen. Susan Collins (R) leads her Democratic challenger, Rep. Tom Allen, 49-41, according to a new poll taken for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC).

There are no direct trend lines available for the Mellman poll, but the DSCC says that Collins was leading by 15 points in their previous round of polling. While these numbers still aren't great, they both show why this race isn't completely off the map.

New Maine Poll Shows Allen Gaining On Collins

Maine Democratic Senate candidate Tom Allen has closed Republican Senator Susan Collins’ lead to eight points and now trails only 49% to 41%, according to a new poll taken for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.  Collins previously led by 15 points, but has seen her lead shrink as Allen has campaigned across the state.

Rice receives strong rating from National Rifle Association

Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Andrew Rice has received an “A-” rating from the National Rifle Association. Rice received this rating from the National Rifle Association because he believes gun ownership is a constitutional right guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the Bill of Rights.

new poll suggests an increasingly competitive race for Congress in South Florida, with none of the Republican incumbents polling above 50 percent.  The survey, conducted for WSCV Telemundo 51, shows two of the Democratic challengers -- former Hialeah Mayor Raul Martinez and former Miami-Dade Democratic party chief Joe Garcia -- coming within 5 points of the incumbents.
