Obama Health Care Plan.......Cut And Run?

Obama Health Care Plan......Cut And Run?

The American people spoke loudly in Nov. 2008 and elected the Democratic candidate Barack Obama to be the 44th President of the United States of America. The Sen from Illinois was the first ever African American to be elected President. As a result of that election, the American people also gave the Democratic party a 60-40 fillibuster proof majority in the Senate, and an even bigger majority in the House Of Representatives, along with a Democrat President.

Near the top of Obama's list of campaign promises was the important issue of reforming the broken Health Care system. Health Care Reform has been considered a top Democratic party issue for about 40+ years. With a new Democrat President, and the big majorities in both the House and Senate, the time seems right for real Health Care Reform to finally become a reality. With a Democrat President and these huge Congressional majorities, the way a real Democracy is supposed to work should make getting this accomplished an almost certainty. So why is the attempt to get this done going so poorly?

We are now witnessing how lobbyists and big Corporate money have corrupted Washington. How a handful of Senators who receive big money from the Private Insurance Industry, HMO's, Big Pharma.... can over rule the Democratic process in America. The election, the Democratic Congressional majorities and Democrat President, along with the will of the American people, is being ignored. This is NOT how a real Democracy is supposed to function.

83 percent of all Americans support Health Care Reform. Over 50 percent of registered Republicans also support some kind of reform. 72 percent of all Americans support a public option, which will provide a little competition to the current system which is entirely run by Private Insurance Companies for profit. The public option will not be profit driven, thus giving the Private Insurance Industry competition to keep the out of control costs from continuing to rise. Under the current Private "for profit" system Health Care costs and premiums have become too expensive and many Americans just can't afford it. The number of uninsured has risen over the years to about 46 million now.

Now we are seeing attempts to water down the final Bill to the point of excluding the public option, which is exactly what the Private Insurance Industry wants. Without the public option the final Bill will be worthless. There will be no competition or incentive for Private Insurers to keep costs down, and it will do little or nothing for the 46 million uninsured. All in the name of a "bi partisan" compromise." A phony bi partisan compromise, because nothing is bi partisan in Washington these days. President Obama and the Democrats should reject this worthless compromise.

Pres Obama, please do not "Cut and Run" and accept this unacceptable phony compromise if it unfortunately comes to this. Please do not abandon your supporters. We are not giving up this fight. Please do not be the General who deserts his troops leaving them on the battlefield to fend for themselves. We will not surrender to the will of the Private Insurance Industry, and neither should you. If the "Blue Dog" Democrats of your own party cave in to the will of the American people and results of the 08 election because they were bought off by Private Insurance, it will be remembered come their next re election attempts. Don't let yourself and real Health Care Reform go down with them. Don't accept the unacceptable compromise and try to claim it's a victory, because we know better, and it's not a victory

Rather than accept a worthless compromise, I and many of your supporters would rather see the Bill killed. It would be better to come back and try again after the 2010 elections with a new Congress, than accept a worthless compromise. Then we can put the "Blue Dog" traitors in the cross hairs and hopefully replace them with Primary challenges by candidates who will NOT surrender to (be bought off by) the Private Insurance Industry. I'd personally prefer this over accepting a watered down compromise that does nothing, if it regretfully has to come to that.
