Why I am Involved in Politics
My first endeavor into politics was during my sophomore year of high school. A family friend ran for Town Council in Morrisville, NC, and having never been involved in any sort of campaign, I asked if I could help out. It was a small campaign in a small town, which led to direct contact with many constituents. I went with the candidate to several forums and panels, Democratic Party lunches, and stood at the polls on Election Day. By the end of the campaign, I knew I wanted to continue to be involved with politics, to interact with people throughout the country, and to be a part of the political system. Now, I am a rising junior at George Washington University, in Washington, DC. My love of politics pulled me towards the nation’s capital, allowing for many great internship opportunities throughout the school year.
