Rensselaer County Republicans want to deny voters choice
Last month, the Working Families Party interviewed me and my running mates Flora Fasoldt
and Norm Young. They asked us how we felt about a number of important
issues on national and local levels, from health care reform to the
minimum wage. The core beliefs of the Working Families Party, while
somewhat more liberal than mine, could not be more different from those
of Republicans and Conservatives.
But the Rensselaer
County Republican machine and party bosses don't care what the ideology
of the Working Families Party is. They just want to deny them access to
the ballot.
Just as they did with the Conservative and
Independence parties, Republicans have infiltrated the Working Families
Party, having their operatives register as WFP members with one sole purpose: to deny people the right to vote for a party that represents their political views.
The Republicans whose names are on those peitions were not interviewed or endoresed
by the Working Families Party. The Republican petitions were not
circulated by a member of the Working Families Party. In fact, the
petitions have a "fatal flaw" in that the notary who circulated them
forgot to put his stamp on them.
But the Republican Party Bosses don't care. They want to waste the resources of the Democratic and Working
Families parties by forcing them to go to court to have the petitions
thrown out. Their bottom line is to win at all costs, even if that
means denying you the right to vote.
These are the people who are running our county. People who would deny Rensselaer
County residents a choice on the ballot. For them, it is all about
retaining power and raking in the money that comes with total control
of the government.
If
you think we have had enough of partisan politics - if you want a
government that works for you and not for themselves - please support
me with your time and donations to my campaign. Please support my
running mates, incumbent Flora Fasoldt and Norm Young.
Things will only get better when we the people vote for change.
