Stonewalling

Written by: Tony Walker on Jul 23, 2009 8:17 AM EDT

Watching the news this morning, I was still shocked and amazed at how the Jefferson County Commissioners and the Jefferson County Legislative Delegation keep 'Stonewalling' each other. After you read this, take a look at my latest 'TonyCam' episode on Facebook which speaks of this. Now, don't get me wrong the County Commissioners are doing a piss poor job of running the county; however, our Legislator aren't fairing much better either. They are sitting there acting like children on a playground and pointing fingers at the other kids saying, 'it's their fault'. Well, there is enough blame to go around. Our lack luster Legislators are basically in a pissing contest with the County Commissioners about the Occupational Sales Tax and guess who's getting 'rained' on. If we're having to lay off 66% of the workforce just because of the Tax issue, then it's logical to assume that 66% of the County's revenue comes from this tax. Well, why then would you allow something like that to happen? Surely, we have other sources of revenue. This problem should have been fixed a long time ago. So while we have some Commissioners galvanting around the state campaigning and the others getting their face time on television someone needs to get their butts to the negotiation table and save some jobs. If only they had listened to Commissioner Bell, this would have been behind us by now!!!!
