Meet me in Maine this weekend

Written by: Alessandra on Oct 29, 2009 2:31 PM EDT

Something big is happening next Tuesday in Maine: a referendum on marriage equality.

Right-wing groups from across the country have been pouring millions of dollars into the state to pass Proposition 1 and repeal Maine's marriage equality law. It's going to be a close election and we need all hands on deck -- that's why I want you to join me in Maine this weekend for one last push to get out the vote for marriage equality.

If you have a car and you're willing to drive or if you need a ride and you're looking to carpool, just click the link below.

Join the fight for marriage equality

Democracy for America is already on the ground working hard to protect marriage equality for Mainers. Not only am I here on the ground, but DFA's Training Director Matt Blizek and a whole bunch of DFA staff and interns have driven from Vermont to Maine to get out the vote and protect marriage equality too.

It doesn't matter if you have a car or not. It doesn't matter if you've never volunteered for a campaign before. The No on 1 campaign is coordinating rides for people without cars and they have experienced staff ready to train folks. They even have places ready for everyone to stay!

Your trip can make the difference. I hope to see you this weekend.
