About Me:

I'm Thomas Patrick Morgan, and I'm running for Lansing Community College Trustee in Michigan.

The son of a factory worker and a waitress, I worked full time at a grocery store while juggling a full load of classes at community college so I could fulfill his goal of being the first person in my family to obtain a college degree.

Community college helped prepare me for a career of service to the public, first as a local watchdog journalist and now as a communications specialist working for nurses, firefighters and teachers.

I also serve as a committee member on the Ingham County Equal Opportunity Committee, a presenter for the Michigan Public Leadership Program at MSU's Institute for Public Policy and Social Research, an elected Democratic precinct delegate and as committee chair for the Michigan Democratic Party's Employee Bill of Rights Task Force.

I understand that Lansing Community College plays a critical role in preparing Michiganders for the job market, and I will fight every day to ensure every person receives access to an affordable, quality education.

As an LCC Trustee, I will work to recruit and retain the best and brightest educators so our students get the education and job training they need.

As an LCC Trustee, I will:

• Help implement high education standards to ensure LCC graduates can compete for the jobs they need

• Fight for more stable funding for our community colleges to keep tuition affordable for working families

• Work to promote LCC’s cutting-edge job-training programs, particularly in the emerging renewable energy jobs sector
