New Progressive Movie Series in Fairfax

Politics at the Pub Join us for dinner and a movie at The Auld Shebeen in the heart of Fairfax City. We will watch “The Education of Shelby Knox”, a documentary about a girl who advocates for sex education at her school. Shelby Knox is a born again Christian who goes to a high school where abstinence only is the only method of birth control taught in school.  More here: http://www.incite-pictures.com/Shelby_Knox.html  What: Dinner (you buy) and a movie (for $1).  Where:  The Auld Shebeen 3871 Chain Bridge Road Fairfax City, VA 703-293-9600 When:  Sunday, September 16, 2007Meet us there at 5:30 for dinner. See the movie for $1. Discussion after the movie. Ask for the “Politics at the Pub” group. Parking:  Free parking at Bank of America or next to the Old Town Hall. "The Power of Nightmares: The Rise of the Politics of Fear" is available for viewing online. This is a British documentary by Adam Curtis. Its is not available in the US, but you can watch it here:

"The Power of Nightmares: The Rise of the Politics of Fear"

I've seen this movie two times and Saturday will be the third. A friend has seen it ten times. This is an important documentary which should not be missed. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. At the last showing people had seen two hours worth of this film, and when given a vote, voted unanimously to see the third segment as well. There will be breaks between the segments and a discussion afterward.

Candidate Forum on Monday, May 15

On Monday, May 15, there will be a candidate forum on the Iraq war with the two candidates seeing the nomination to run against Tom Davis in the 11th Congressional District of Virginia. The two candidates vying for the Democratic nomination are Andrew Hurst and Ken Longmyer. This is a great opportunity to share your views on the war and to hear what they have to say on the subject.
