Any chance we could get Bush, Cheney, and the rest of the torturers to give it a try?
It sure seemed to teach Critchens to be something akin to a human being quickly enough.

- my "tax the movement of money" proposal fits those criteria rich
By Phil Specht on Jul 3, 2008 7:51 AM EDTThe main change in tax laws right now needs to deal with the accumulation of liquidity in the hedge funds because of favorable tax treatment
- hundreds of billions have been shifted from investments to speculation

bets oil goes higher
all that money put into buying oil futures could really pay off if a war can be provoked with Iran
don't under-estimate the power of pocketing a quick few billions and not having to pay income tax
Came home yesterday to find that my laptop is missing the select function on the mouse.
From what I gathered from the local news, Obama was to be somewhere in Colorado yesterday. His pledge to work with the religious community to address poverty got a big story (from the AP) in the local (16 page) press. The message flow seems to be working well. His position is being compared to the Bush Two "Faith-based" stuff. That's unfair since that was simply a strategy to avoid popular input and spend money in secret to reward compliant followers.
Have to use tab and enter to post, I guess. But the completed comment sent me to my home page with a bunch of statistics. May just be my quirky computer.
Then it's my quirky computer too (have to hit the Back button in my toolbar in order to get back to the watercooler after posting a comment).
Also, there's no number of comments posted counter like there is in the main blog thread, so in order for me to see if there's a new comment in the watercooler thread, I have to scroll down and see if there is one.
It's not you -- it's the beta version of the UNARCHIVED watercooler.
Shelters and vets get inundated with strays over 4th of July -- pets are TERRIFIED of firecrackers, etc. KEEP THEM IN -- MAKE SURE THEY HAVE ID ON THEIR COLLARS.
- The Cedar Rapids shelter is caring for 800 additional pets from the flooding as of yesterday.
By Phil Specht on Jul 3, 2008 8:34 AM EDTPets are part of the family, but fireworks displays are no place for them.
Dubuque has a great display, but the normal viewing park along the river is closed to vehicles, so might not be quite the usual big deal

South Dakota's rigid abortion law upheld by 8th appeals court.By floridagal . on Jul 2, 2008 11:31 PM
This bill is really something else. It requires doctors to spout right wing nonsense to their patients instead of allowing honesty. And it was upheld by an appeals court? This is just nuts.
South Dakota abortion doctors now required to spout right wing religious ideology to patients
Part of it...
"Doctors are now forced, by law, to tell each of these women that “An abortion will terminate the life of a whole, separate, unique, living human being.” This restriction is just one more tactic that anti-choice forces have used to chip away at the constitutional right to abortion in what is already one of the most restricted states."
And more. Ridiculous.
