lat's talk about guitar scale length.  usually, people don't mention such a subject.  its just too out of bounds for them to think about.  but, to the typical gutarist, its something that just has to be considered.

shorter scale length may provide an easier change between chord voicings.  those with larger finger tips may decide that this is a disadvantage owing to the fact that you can't fit your fingers properly in the freted area.  when choosing a guitar, scale is directly proportional to the area that your finger tips require in the freted area.  therefore, up scale fretting may require more thinking.  can you, or can't you, actually fit your finger tips into the required freted area?  well, that's a good question.

Why are Democrats so hell bent on telecom immunity? And why stand up and allow people to stop the vote over and over if they were always going to cave? I mean, obviously, they want to cave...

I guess it comes down to corporate money? I hope Obama's no corporate or lobbyists money policy spreads. It could clean up Congress.

- is this an actual political discussion...

By mprov on Jul 9, 2008 12:44 AM EDT

...whence the money hense the vote...how is this a no brainer charles???  in addition, those back room deals and info-conferences between bushco and the leadership, put the leadership in a liable position, if not legally, then at least politically.  vanquish the state in order to retain the helmsmanship of the rudder.  no?

- I don't think we can argue

By Charles Chamberlain on Jul 9, 2008 1:05 AM EDT

cause I pretty much agree. I think we need clean money for campaigns. If we pay for it, then electeds (democrat or republican) would no longer be on the lobbyist payroll.

Why does Obama change his vote on FISA if he doesn't take money from corporations like AT&T?  Why would he flip?

We absolutely agree that the collusion between Bush Co and Congress is beyond disturbing and likely criminal.

- Think about what we know

By Charles Chamberlain on Jul 9, 2008 1:11 AM EDT

Think about what we know already... while these guys are still in power... and it is amazing how much we know. We KNOW they broke the law to spy on Americans. We KNOW they tortured/torture. We KNOW they leaked the name of an undercover CIA agent (something which I still believe is treason). We KNOW they cooked the books to led us into war. Even more amazing is that this list goes on and on.

How much more is there? What don't we know?

clean money, ok.  fair elections, ok.  open softare, ok.

the "flip" on fisa is that it retains the "powers" he thinks the feds need.  i disagree, btw.  the bill doesn't protect the com guys from criminal prosecution, just civil.  now, i think civil should be on the table, but the ptb don't think so, so either we let this be or elect another set of individuals.

- No joke

By Charles Chamberlain on Jul 9, 2008 1:38 AM EDT

America sleeps while our leaders destroy us in so many ways. I think the Bush administration has a similar opinion of people however... it is their believe that Americans are afraid of everything that keeps them from telling us the truth about our relationship with Saudi Arabia for example.

So while I think they are asleep... I at least have some confidence that when we get our message heard, people DO wake up and change... the problem is getting loud enough to break through the zombie BS of modern culture.  A culture that thrives on non-involvement.  It gets back to -- if we ain't involved then no one notices who runs the show... and that will be true even if we have clean money.

I like Barack a lot. I have a lot of hope for what change will come. But I don't buy his reason for voting the wrong way on this new FISA bill. I think it is political bs and not forward thinking. That said, I plan to take him at his word that he will revisit the issues moving forward... with a strong Attorney General to investigate criminal changes.

- Charles, Perhaps our leaders know that the majority of the American people just don't want to know how corrupt that their government has truly been and how long it has been that way.

By Susan Rowe on Jul 9, 2008 3:40 AM EDT

Perhaps that truth would be just too much for the common people or so they would like think.  Betrayal of the American people's innocence is act that they just don't want to have to admit that they all have been doing.

Trust is always earned.  And in present day politics the ability to trust is very rare.

Reform is not just about having clean money elections.  What we need is to reform of the way politics is played not only by the elected politicians but by all who like to play it's games.

Ethics and a moral conscious is what folks want in politicos and their government.  They don't want mr. slick anymore and haven't for a very long time.  That is how Bush got elected, twice.

- Perhaps we need to take the power of the purse and insider elected and non-elected appointments away from them all.

By Susan Rowe on Jul 9, 2008 4:15 AM EDT

That is what the corporations have done quit well.

Elections are always about voter turn out or the lack of it.  The passing of legislation is about voter turn out.

The issues surrounding this blog's continued conversation is also about voter turn out.

No more excuses.

- Great point!

By Charles Chamberlain on Jul 9, 2008 8:52 AM EDT

Well said. A total transformation in politics is needed for complete renewal. But I think clean money sure would help.
