- Very Good

Biden really is a straight talker.  What I liked was that he talked about US, and our contribution to the democratic process (at least if you are an Obama supporter, the targeted audience for this video.)  But I think that fence-sitters might move over to our side too if Joe keeps talking to them in this 'heart to heart fashion.'  He didn't talk down to us and he recognized our contributions.

I'm sold.

He's nothing compared to his mom....

In the Biden family, children were taught to respect the habit, but not necessarily the person in it. As a boy, Biden took endless ribbing from classmates for a stutter he later overcame. Much of the time, the nuns tried to help. But when a seventh-grade teacher mimicked Bu-bu-bu-bu-bu-Biden's stutter in front of the class, his mother, Jean, demanded a meeting with the principal and the offending nun. "If you ever speak to my son like that again, I'll come back and rip that bonnet off your head," she said. Later, when then-Senator Biden told her he was going to visit the pope, she said: "Don't you kiss his ring."

- ONE.org: Obama's VP: It’s Joe Biden

By Susan Rowe on Aug 24, 2008 8:46 PM EDT

Senator Obama finally announced his vice-president choice, Senator Joe Biden - and I just took action with ONE.org to make this national political moment a meaningful poverty-fighting moment.

Click the link below to send Joe Biden a digital postcard letting him know that you want leadership as committed to ending extreme poverty and global disease as we are.

It's important we contact him now, before he gets swept-up in an inevitable blur of coast-to-coast campaigning and crushing national media attention.

There was a rules committee meeting yesterday as well.   Sounds like a few disgruntled folks were there.

Rules committee meeting...some still complaining of unfairness.

They need to get over it.

This is funny...I come in here and see the first post mentions "Barack and Joe".

I have a friend who I speak to just a couple times per year and I spoke to him this morning.  He's not into politics and somehow managed to miss the excitement of Obama's VP selection.

In our phone conversation I asked what do you think about Barack & Joe and my friend's response was "Barack picked Lieberman?"

167t236061

- Oooh...that's a terrible thought.

Guess it makes sense if they are not political.

- one of my first thoughts when I heard it was Biden

By Jo*in*Vermont on Aug 24, 2008 8:39 PM EDT

was that he would restore the good name of 'Joe' in Presidential politics.  this joe is soooo much better than the last vp nom joe!!

- Looks like the whole AP staff will editorialize...

By floridagal . on Aug 24, 2008 6:47 PM EDT

not just Ron Fournier.   They are into opinion big time now.

Liz Sidoti does her share of editorializing about Obama and Biden.

They are really proud of not really being a news service anymore.

- Interfaith Alliance: How will the DNC offer an inclusive voice that respects the beliefs of all Americans and protects the boundaries between religion and government?

On this week’s State of Belief, Welton issued a challenge to members of the Democratic Party, and he asked State of Belief listeners to let us know how they think the Democrats are doing. As you watch the Democratic Convention, join Welton in a dialogue about the issues he raised:

~ Does Senator Obama’s plan for the Faith-Based Initiative respect the Constitution’s provisions for religious freedom?

~ Does the Democratic Party’s discussion of faith offer an inclusive voice for religious pluralism that respects both believers and non-believers?

~ How will Democratic candidates’ faith impact policy decisions to protect the boundaries between religion and government?

Click here to listen to Welton deliver his challenge...

DENVER — DENVER TECH CENTER MARRIOTT -- Two Tennessee Hillary Clinton delegates said they have no complaints with Barack Obama's choice of Joe Biden as his running mate.

"He picked someone he could work with," said Tina Mercer, a Jackson, Tenn. consultant. "He picked someone who could go to work on Day 1 if something happened to him." Mercer said Biden has wide appeal among Democrats. State Rep. Randy Rinks, of Savannah, said the Tenneessee delegation is solidly behind Obama. "I don't think anybody in our delegation expected her to be picked," said Rinks, who is a Clinton alternate delegate.
