- Hi Jo

By audrey.nc on Aug 25, 2008 5:17 PM EDT

I'm the same Audrey.   How nice of you to say what you did.   I was thinking I was losing my marbles.
I tend to have simplified ways of looking at things and can stay with it.   See, I think, "we good", "they badf".
It's us and Dean vs Clintons and the bad guys.
I only unsubscribed to Obama e=mails because their interested in why, so I had a chance to catch their ear.   I will keep after him until he publicly appreciates Howard.  Thanks for your posst.

I do hope he has a good word for Howard at the convention and a good spot for him in his administration.  I'd love to know what Howard would really like to do going forward....  we could ask him, but I'm sure he'd keep it close to his vest and just be happy wth whatever the future brings.  he's already made his mark in this country - and I hope he gets to continue to do so!

btw - cspan is way better than listening to the talking heads!

Howard better get major kudos at this convention.  Because of his brilliant 50-state-strategy - the Dems are in the driver's seat.

I'm boycotting CNN and just watching MSNBC to keep Keith's ratings up!  To hell with Brokaw.  Actually, I'm looking forward to seeing how Keith responds to Brokaw - he'll probably be his professional self though...

I wish it was already November 5th - the day after the election - and we're all celebrating!

Chris Matthews has three crackpots on with *Clintons for McCain* sign talking about Obama attending a Madrassa in Indonesia.  Crikey.  Why the heck are they getting air time?  Methinks Dems/Indies that support Hillary would care less if someone attended a Madrassa school.  What a waste of time.  This has all been put together by the Republicans.  Sickening.

The Show Begins

by Ed Kilgore, August 25, 2008 12:28 PM EST

On the first formal day of the Democratic Convention, any pre-game jitters seem to be gone, and the show will soon begin.

[...] The total number of speakers is down noticably from past conventions (a good idea, IMO), and the number of what everyone calls "real people"[...] Nobody seems to have been told they can't criticize George W. Bush or John McCain, which is a nice change from the message straightjacket in Boston four years ago.

MUTTER

Mutter...

Ich durfte keine Nippel lecken
und keine Falte zum verstecken
niemand gab mir einen Namen
gezeugt in Hast und ohne Samen

Der Mutter die mich nie geboren
hab ich heute Nacht geschworen
ich werd ihr eine Krankheit schenken
und sie danach im Fluss versenken

Mutter...

In ihren Lungen wohnt ein Aal
auf meiner Stirn ein Muttermal
entferne es mit Messers Kuss
auch wenn ich daran sterben muss

Mutter...

In ihren Lungen wohnt ein Aal
auf meiner Stirn ein Muttermal
entferne es mit Messers Kuss
auch wenn ich verbluten muss

Mutter...
oh gib mir Kraft.

English:

The tears of senile childs
i put them on a white hair
throw it in the air, the wet chain
and wish i had a mother

no sun that shines to me
no breast cryes milk to me
in my throat there is a tube
have no navel on my belly

Mother ... Mother
Mother ... Mother

i could not lik the nipples
and no fold to hide inside
no one gives me a name
made in hate and without sperm

to the mother that never born me
i swear this night
i will give you a disease
and after that i will sink it in the river

Mother ... Mother
Mother ... Mother
Mother ... Mother
Mother ... Mother

in her lungs ther lives an eel
on my face there is a mothersigne
remove it with the kiss of the knife
also if i die of it

also if i bleed out

I'm sitting here listening to Michelle talk about her and her husband's humble roots, and I'm sorry but I'm reminded of why I could never have supported Hillary as I did Obama - because she didn't have to struggle for one goddam thing, except perhaps her dignity thanks to her selfish husband and his escapades.

Wow.  Michelle Obama was amazing.  Like people in the crowd, I had tears in my eyes at times.

Her message of hope and America "the way it should be" was exactly the kind of message that needed to be heard.

Watching Michelle and comparing her to Hillary, I have to say that Michelle just oozes honest sincerity, something I don't think Hillary would recognize if it was standing in front of her.

(I'm sad to say I don't have cable and watched much of the convention coverage on PBS, but it was so boring I fell asleep and totally missed out on seeing Ted Kennedy.)

Thomas -

I too had tears in my eyes during Michelle's speech, especially the part about when she said Barack was rushing a pregnant Michelle to the hospital, aware that he wanted to ensure that his daughter had a father who is there for here, unlike what Obama didn't have with his own father.

Also, the description about how Michelle's MS-ridden father had to use two canes to be able to get up to cross the floor to kiss his wife, that showed how she and Barack are just like any other American.

Even the most racist redneck bigot watching her speech, I'd say there would be some tears shed in his eyes.

I think she tore the "elitist" label, that's been unfairly saddled on her and on Barack, to shreads tonight.

- Regarding the nutjobs for Hillary/McCain

By volney simmons on Aug 25, 2008 11:45 PM EDT

There was one on our local news tonight. An older white man who said right out that he would "vote for the devil before Obama". He said his aim and that of other Hillary supporters was to make sure Obama lost so that she could run again in just four years.

Anybody else have one one their local news? NBC affiliate?

I have two thoughts about this:

1.) If it's the GOP orchestrating this, it's brilliant. Some pea brains will go along with it and deliver McC some unearned added votes, while meanwhile Democrats en masse will work to make sure Hillary gets booted out of the Senate and forceably retired. A win-win for the GOP.

2.) If it's actually nutjob Hillary supporters... well, this is why America made the right choice to pick someone else!!! Yikes.

By raehart on Aug 25, 2008 11:53 PM EDT

And those two girls - adorable.  Loved Michelle's dress.

Hot and windy here in SLC.  But had to shut doors and windows, very smoky out.  Must be a fire somewhere.  The air is very bad here, compared with AK.

I'm glad I get CSPAN.  Tried watching MSNBC, they make me so darn mad, why do they make things up?  I personally cannot stand Mike Todd or whatever his name is.

My sister called to say how amazing Michelle Obama is.  Also my mom & dad said she was  wonderful.  She just struck so many chords.  She's seems so genuine and sincere.

---------

Now the next few nights should be time to kick some Republican arse.  There are supposed to be some surprises in store.  Wonder if Colin Powell or Chuck Hagel will show up.
