There was a diary on KOS last night saying KOS bloggers had terrible hotel too - in fact, they moved after a drug bust came down there. Guess too many people, not enuf HI Expresses.
- as American as apple pie, Michelle brought a tear to my eye
By * rdorgan on Aug 26, 2008 7:19 AM EDTAlso, the description about how Michelle's MS-riddled father had to use two canes to be able to get up to cross the floor to kiss his wife.
Even the most racist redneck bigot watching her speech, I'd say there would be some tears shed in his eyes.
I think she tore the "elitist" label, that's been unfairly saddled on her and on Barack, to shreads last night.
As the convention wound down to a close Monday evening, the Republican National Committee blasted out video of ex-Clinton strategist James Carville slighting the night's festivities. "If this party has a message," he said on CNN, "it's done a hell of a job hiding it tonight, I promise you that."
Mommy Mary will comfort you Jimmy.
FU and the elephant you rode in on!
the media is playing up the Clinton "problem" to the hilt, and Hillary gets extra heft because of it
the deal is she is a Democratic Senator from near the middle of the Party (Yeah I know that spot isn't progressive enough for you or me) and as such is part of our "brand"
both Carville and McCain are going to have egg on their face tonight
I heard David Gergen dissing the convention too - said the excitement in the hall was palpable but the evening wasn't 'made for TV.' This was before Caroline, the Old Lion (I love that characterization), Michelle's bro saying Barack was confident but not cocky, shoots when he's open, is a team player, will harrass the other guys when he can - and before Michelle's speech, and Barack's surprise 'visit' and the girls being so natural and adorable -- I think David Gergen spoke too soon - it was a wonderful evening from my TV -- of course after a few minutes of Gergen I mostly watched CSPAN which was much better. Watched a little PBS - what's wrong with Carter's left eye?
McCain has overplayed the split and really ticked off Hillary and she will have a free shot at McCain because he is using her in his ads.
you Hillary bashers need to let go, she is on our team
Here it is, fresh from the NY Times:
http://tinyurl.com/6frrap
GOP operatives set up the Nutjobs for Hillary/McCain news conference, which makes them responsible for all the "news" coverage it spawned.
This almost screams for street theater a la "Billionaires for Bush". Make it "Nutjobs for McCain" and have people out there spouting about all the reasons they are voting for McCain so that someone else (Hillary, Santa Claus, little green folk from Mars) can run against him in four years.
But what I think Obama should do is send a mailer to members of feminist groups pointing out all the despicable ways the GOP uses women, including Hillary, for its scummy, win-at-all costs ends. And then just let the facts sink in.
I won't be watching "Hillary night", BTW. Howard didn't get his own night, so she's not getting one in my home. I think "America's Got Talent" is back on.

I'm meen and bittah and I can't let go. LOL!
Plus, I really just can't trust her. Proximity makes the heart grow less fond.
I hope you're right and McCain's total overstepping has her really POed.
But I'll still read about it tomorrow vs. watch it tonight.

McCain has set himself up for a fall, and so has the media, overplaying the lingering "split"; Hillary has moved on, and is squarely behind our nominee.
- Remember one of the big splits with Clinton during the primary was "Universal" health care
By Phil Specht on Aug 26, 2008 8:31 AM EDTher supporters (and many for Edwards) thought Obama did not go far enough
guess what so did Ted Kennedy as Barack's biggest backer and he still calls health care a "right"
and so now does the Democratic Party platform after Obama and Clinton folks joined forces
Hillary could re-give Ted's speech from last night and some pundit would point out the difference
guess what there isn't any now, the Democratic Party gathers every four years to place a name on the ballot to go with the Party and we right now are going to have as our representative someone clearly comfortable with that role, because it is the Party of the people
and if you have been paying attention to his speeches lately, he gets it more than ever, that WE THE PEOPLE deserve a government that represents us, but the only way that is true is if his election is the beginning of our taking it back
- I hate to think anyone here thinks Carville has it right
By Phil Specht on Aug 26, 2008 8:38 AM EDTThere may be Clinton people who are selfishly carrying a grudge because they won't have an office in the West Wing.
the people that "voted" for Clinton that will vote for John McCain were never Democrats to start with
the media is playing up those sore losers of both stripes but Hillary isn't one of them
... the baton has been passed to a new generation, the freshmen class is moving on up.

- Progressives have to continue to show up because the right wing of the party
By Phil Specht on Aug 26, 2008 8:57 AM EDTflexed it's muscles enough in the primary fight for Obama to pick someone on his right as a running mate.
The differences between Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton are pretty slim to none on most policy issues.
yes it is the wing of the Party that Howard ran against and came up just short, but the tipping point was reached and we Progressives have an opportunity with Obama if he wins, and so do other Democrats of all stripes, to get the Party they want;the fights get hammered out in sub-committee work in Congress, and we here at DFA need to get busy and elect those endorsed critters because if they don't win Steny Hoyers' wing does
