- Tancredo wrote to Hastert..said not to send aid to Democratic leaders in NOLA

By floridagal . on Sep 1, 2008 1:16 AM EDT

I have forgotten this until I saw how they are turning the GOP convention into a hurricane fest.   Also something about Bush played politics with Blanco about the National Guard.

Tancredo's letter to stop direct aid to LA, and Blanco's treatment by Bush

""The mayor was not in the meeting ," Blanco told the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. "I told the president that the proper way is for me, as governor, to remain in control of the National Guard," Blanco said.
She said while she was "pushing" for more federal troops to come into her state, she was adamant that she would have control of the Guard.
"

YET...Haley Barbour, Republican, was not even bothered about it.

"Mississippi Republican Gov. Haley Barbour, who also testified before the panel, said the question of federalizing his state's National Guard never came up with the administration because he made it clear beforehand that he would not be amenable to such a suggestion."

I thought of you often and I am so happy you were there!  the event on tv was phenomenal - I can just imagine what it was like being there!  I can think of no one who deserved to be there (other than maybe Barack, et al!) any more than you did.  thank you again for all you have done, sweetie!

rest up and hope you feel better soon!  xoxxoxo
