- Watched Bill Maher tonight. He endorsed
By Pat in Colorado on Sep 6, 2008 12:12 AM EDTObama. But, what I thought was particularly interesting was that all the panel members talked about family information as being inappropriate. That, of course, didn't stop the jokes Bill Maher made, but, the panel members generally agreed that family should be left alone.
It was Barack Obama who made the clear statement that family was off limits. This tells me what a leader he is and how important a leader is for the Great American Conversation. He is stating an ethical standard, and it resonates. People become aware, talk about it, and if it makes sense will adopt it.
What we've had with Carl Rove, Lee Atwater, Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and others is the most degrading, scurrilous depictions of people. It has been ugly, unfair, superficial, and demeaning to all of us. The Great American Conversation has been a hate fest, and it has hurt us all.
Good night good folks.
