By charles z on Sep 7, 2008 2:41 PM EDT

Dean is the alpha and the omega...and all points in between?  Sir Dean assumed his Alpha status upon the decease of Billy Martin (I refer you to Billy's own: "Billy Martin #1").  Whereas the former Yankee skipper was the apodictic numero uno, to be revered forevermore in that constellation of other late, great be-all, end-alls, Dean presently has attained his rightful echelon, an echelon non plus ultra, an echelon where he resides with no other inasmuch as he, Dean, "is first."  Billy was replaced by Dean as King; ergo, the correct chronology runs: Billy Dean King.  Bonjour.

- Sara Palin - all hat, no cattle

By Jo*in*Vermont on Sep 7, 2008 9:17 AM EDT

she has the ballz to go on the attack but runs and hides from the press and America at large.  The McCain camp KNOWS that if folks get to know the real Sara they'll flock to Obama like a scene from 'The Birds'.

I'd call her a pussy, but that might be considered sexist, so let me just cut to the chase - she's a BULLY and a COWARD.  we've had almost 8 years of that so I expect her glow will fade once folks have a chance to learn more about her.  CNN is airing profiles on Palin and Joe Biden next weekend, like the ones they did for McCranky and Obama - those were well done so I hope these, too, give a good overview of the VP choices.

- McCain's Empty Words To The Wanting

By raehart on Sep 7, 2008 9:43 AM EDT

Bizarrely enough, the change McCain calls for -- he did mention the C-word more than a half-dozen times -- would mean biting the political teat he has suckled blissfully for his long, dusty congressional career. As the veteran television critic Tom Shales put it, that's "like staging a revolution against yourself -- saying that the Republicans have got to go so the Republicans can move in and clean up the mess."

From Jack and Jill Politics

So when you hear or read someone, such as former mayor of Wasilla, Alaska Sarah Palin stating that Obama has not authored “a single major law or even a reform”, send them this list:

In eight years in Illinois, State Senator Obama sponsored 820 bills that became law. The Illinois Times, in a cover story, labeled Obama as “Head Of The Class” for his legislative abundance.

And in just four years as a U.S. Senator, Obama has sponsored 427 bills, and authored 152 bills.

“Now, John McCain says he believes in education, too. But he is against fully funding No Child Left Behind, against fully funding Head Start, against hiring more teachers and wants to abolish the Department of Education. This should come as no surprise. John McCain is just more of the same say-one-thing-do-another crowd in the White House today.”

“The same folks who say they believe in small government and fiscal restraint are responsible for the biggest expansion in the size of government and the size of the federal deficit in American history. The same folks, with John McCain leading the charge, who say they support seniors, want to privatize Social Security and put corporate pension funds up for grabs. The same folks who call themselves “compassionate conservatives” are the folks who abandoned all those people not only after Katrina, but before that storm. The American people have had enough.”

- Palin and the Book of Kings--David and Abishag

By Hu Jo on Sep 7, 2008 10:29 AM EDT

http://www.counterpunch.org/cockburn09062008.html

Being well schooled in scripture, Sarah Palin is certainly familiar with the Book of Kings, Chapter 1, verses 1-4 and I’m sure they have crossed her mind in recent days:

Now king David was old and stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he gat no heat.

Wherefore his servants said unto him, Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin: and let her stand before the king, and let her cherish him, and let her lie in thy bosom, that my lord the king may get heat.

So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel, and found Abishag a Shunammite, and brought her to the king.

And the damsel was very fair, and cherished the king, and ministered to him: but the king knew her not.

By raehart on Sep 7, 2008 10:48 AM EDT

It has been Palin, Palin, Palin everyday now since she was announced the day after Obama's acceptance speech.  I'm just as guilty as everyone else.

It is the media that is keeping her in the news.  For hell sakes one day she is the Gov of AK that no one has hardly heard of, and now she is a heroine?  She sucks, bigtime, take this from a person from AK.  She is an opportunistic leech.  I'm not surprised she is popular in AK, she is dirty like the majority of the politicians there.  The only thing most Alaskans care about is how much their annuity check will be.  If it takes dirty politics to get it, so what.

Also she is sexy?  Hell Joe biden is one hundred times sexier than her.

I think the press is ticked at Palin and will act accordingly.  On Matthews they kept saying she would do the 'slicks' like Us (but not Us) but not the regular media.

Looks like Newsweek has Palin on the cover - they usually email their stories so if anything looks good, I will link it.

The Obama ad showing pix of McCain and Bush together and a voice over of how it's just more of the same I thought was extremely effective.

and Joe Biden and Brian Schweitzer are at the opposite ends of the "populist" scale but right there side by side when it comes to shared values of lifting people up through a government that cares

We have had eight years of kicking little people down with Bush and his tax policies and energy policies, and banking policies and the Democratic message has been one of a bottom up country and puts Obama/Biden at the side of Brian Schweitzer and his brand of progressive populism. There is a Democratic answer to Palin in the Mtn west (clearly the McCain fear in picking her) and we need to use all of those state and federal officeholders from the west who know what their electorate wants as witnessed by their wins to lead the way to victory as a Party combining that politics with the Obama new people and ethusiasm.

Yes we can  ...  win the Mtn. west.

I read somewhere where MT is changing.  Not all gun toters anymore.  Alot of people have moved there because they think it is a good place to raise their kids.  Alot of people who are environmentalists. Also I cannot believe that the people who hunt support her aerial hunting tactics.  It shows very bad sportsmanship.  The Native American people support Obama strongly.

As for ND goes, I've read alot of blogs from people there who say Obama will win, that McCain is not popular there.  Maybe she will make the difference, and tip it in their favor.  Ugh.
